Austria Bans Vuvuzelas

Few?

I guess you maybe do not realize we have over 25 million black people who love soccer. I would say only a few whites yes. As far as i know black people are very much part of SA so it is a bit naive to say only a few watch soccer when in fact millions watch soccer in this country. they may not have the money to follow their teams around the country like england, spain etc but that does not mean they do not watch it.

What do you think the noise is like when players get on the pitch for their clubs and fans are singing and chanting? do you think it is not deafening?

As far as i know, SA is hosting the world is i am not mistaken and therefore the vuvuzela are part of our soccer culture, therefore the SA's and rest of world should suck it up and enjoy. Funny thing is did you see how many white okes during the confed cup blew on their vuvuzela's?

the rest of the world could be more like South Africa, we're the best country in the world :D

Unfortunately for you, as the host nation, we do in part dictate what the other 1 billion will see and experience.

Hosting the world cup in SA is not about the foreign fans only, but more importantly about the local fans. You are by no means a local fan - as you have pointed out.

I have posted in another thread about watching the confed cup in the UK on BBC 3. It did not appear to be an issue with the Brits, and the commentators mentioned it a few times stating how it is part of south african football culture, and that cant wait to see how loud it gets in the WC.

Ok, maybe I need to draw you a little graph to show you the difference between 25 million (25 000 000) and 1 billion (1 000 000 000) to me that is a few. Ok but lets put that little technicality aside.

I couldn't care less if it was green marsians blowing the vuvuzelas and what number of them. I do care that the vuvuzela is a fk'ng annoying thing and that sentiment is shared by not 1 or 2 people. The whole world is up in arms out it at the Confed cup. But sure, I'll sit back and let you guys enjoy your little minority rule (It's racist, your white and hate it because it's a black thing) BULL**** ! I hate it because it's an irretating sound it has fk all to do with colour or race.....

I hate the sound of it, and that is pretty simple. I'm sure if it's not banned they will make another plan via the Europe broadcasters some how and I'll just watch it on one of those channels....

No I've never implied that at all, however the vast majority of match attending fans are black. I said it would never be banned for that fact alone, because it would be deemed as offensive to the black culture of using them at matches Sepp Blatter has confirmed this by saying if you don't like the vuvuzela you are discriminating, so in actual fact he is implying vuvuzelas are only used by blacks. And it's Austria not Australia and I have as yet not seen or heard of any cases where Australians have used the vuvuzelas as missiles.

As for the argument of turning the tv down. What of the commentary then? Because I choose to watch football from the comfort of my own home that makes me less of a fan? And excludes me from hearing the commentary?

Your getting the wrong end of the stick, it would offensive to SA to ban it.

Regardless of colour or race the vuvuzela is our culture, banning it would not be racist, i am not sure why people cannot see blacks,white, pink yellows are all flippin South African.

To ban the Vuvuzela would be a great injustice to South Africa. Stop making this a race thing. Retro if you don't like it turn the volume off and then think hmmm this game sucks in silence, then put it back up and hear the power of the vuvuzela!!!!!!!! :D

I do not care about the rest of the world and what they think, we are hosting the world cup.

the close racists seem to be popping up everywhere since elections, hence i keep away from CA these days ;)

The vast majority of match attending fans might be black, but ito % people of other races blowing vuv'z, there is not much of a difference. I have seen literally hundreds if not thousands of white fans blowing vuv'z with the same spassion and spirit as everyone else. So banning vuv'z will not be discriminatory based on race but discriminatory to all soccer loving SA fans.

If you dont like the atmosphere, stay away [full stop]

Who cares which country banned it. You obviously have not read the article to your own link. The reason why vuv'z are banned in Austria is not because of the noise but because the silly Austrians might construe it as WMD's :D
 
Is it our fault austrians have found a way to make the vuvuzela into a weapon? we blow on it with passion and love of the soccer game and not as weapon, we are a civilized nation :D, well the people who are not criminals anyhow :D

Since I don't know soccer for shyt, the commentry on the soccer is valued in Gold for me. But then again, nail me for my difference in opinion :rolleyes: Atleast South Africans can come together on petty issues but not on things like crime and corruption....
