its FIFA's world cup, not the world's AND its being hosted in South Africa as decided by FIFA
It's called the FIFA World Cup. FIFA is the Federation of International Football Associations. It's not the FIFA Football Cup but the FIFA WORLD CUP, the emphasis is on "WORLD" and FIFA is the custodian of international football and makes the regulations and guidelines. It is so because each nation has representatives in FIFA - FIFA is a caretaker body and its mandate was given by the collection of international football associations.
Its the same with the IOC. If the individual members decide they don't like something they can petition FIFA and if FIFA refuses and there is enough membership the FIFA president can be removed (even by force) or a rival
body can be formed. At the end it depends on who joins the rival body.
To cut the whole story short the WORLD CUP is about nations getting together to play football and for fans to enjoy that football. If blowing a stupid Chinese made horn upsets the foreign players who are not used to that noise and upsets the foreign fans were are degrading their experience.
That is not on and not in spirit of a world championship type event which was originally founded to foster unity among nations and peoples through football. Hosting the world cup is a great responsibility and SAns have to realise that it's not about forcing our BS on others, but about playing FAIR
and respecting other people. Causing displeasure to foreigners is not in keeping with this.

WHY???? to share the local culture with the rest of the world...to welcome the world..to open up the world's eyes to africa..to share in our traditions..whether its a 15 year old flag or 10 year old chinese vuvuzela.
its not all about US in south africa BUT its about US and what we bring to the tournament by sharing the sporting festival with the world because believe me when I say, its more than football, its a human celebration of sports and friendship...literally a big global party in RSA.
we are meeting SO many FIFA requirements, more than most would even know,agree with, or even allow their tax money to be spent on( and I'm not even referring to stadia), so what we CAN do is bring South Africa to the tournament, the local soccer culture, whether its new or old, the vibe, the dances, the drums. These are things FIFA wants AND the sponsors WANT.
Thats why Coca-Cola a HUGE sponsor of FIFA uses vuvuzelas in its ad campaigns...the same concept for MTN...these companies along with other sponsors paid FIFA $3.2 billion in revenues, 30% up from Germany.
They use them in LOCAL ad campaigns because locally for some stupid reason that pipe has become synonymous with football. They're also appealing to the fans and since mostly blacks in SA blow these things as mostly blacks in SA watch local football in matches they are using this as a typical marketing strategy of befriending the people they are advertising too - such as SPCA uses cute puppies in its ads - to endear themselves with the fans.
So is Sepp meant to go to Coca-Cola and tell them to BAN vuvuzelas because some South Africas finally tuned in to some local soccer...because lets be very clear about this, the non-South Africans are allowed to moan because this is their first exposure BUT you're just moaning because its your first time being exposed to it tooo...or in most cases that is. YOU simply don't get to dictate local rugby culture after your first attendance, the beer, the obnoxious guy behind you, the fierce rivalry, etc. whether these traditions are new, or old, they are for those who watch the sport locally, on telly and at the stadia.
I don't care either way. I'm not such a big football fan to buy tickets and attend. However, I do see peoples' concerns - heck when they ran the story on CNN a couple weeks back both the anchor and the weather report woman (who was African American) found the noise to be unpleasant. Obviously a packed stadium will have lots of noise (shouting, clapping and stomping) but many people don't like the high pitch drone of this stupid pipe. It spoils the (super expensive) experience for them.
I say ban it for matches where SOUTH AFRICA does not play and allow it to let the SA fans have their blow. There is no reason why some local a-hole should spoil it for an Argentinian who paid a small fortune to come and watch his team play here.
FIFA, like the ICC and Pepsi, already get to dictate which beer gets sold, which t-shirts go on sale, and which hot dogs you can buy at the venues. SO the rest is up to us. We MUST bring South Africa to the tournament we can, or else it would just be a Generic event. For more reasons than one, the vuvuzela is part of soccer in our country.
Locals get the benefit of attending games and beating their chests in pride when the cup is a success. Everyone else who hosted the WC and who ever will had and will have to contend with these FIFA rules. FIFA makes its money this way, SA gets a cut and we certainly get a ton of cash from all those hotel bookings, restaurants, taxis, busses, tourists who will also watch some wild animals between matches and so on - not to mention the labourers who build these stadiums.
The vuvuzela will only be banned IF it becomes a violent weapon at matches BUT if you attended any Confed Cup matches or local matches. Its such a UNIFYING noisy irritating sound. Black, white, local and international tourists get together and blow the horn, have a fabulous time, peacefully and without ANY incidents of it being a weapon. If you're a prissy European broadcaster you should probably get better equipment which blocks out the noise of the immediate supporters...because with or without the Vuvuzela, this world cup will be bloody noisy.

It's not necessary to blow a pipe to enjoy football, in the same way its not necessary to take ecstasy to have a good time at a party. Watch the game for the enjoyment of the game - world class football and not just that - it's your NATIONAL team playing - otherwise do you think these German, British and Brazilian visitors will be paying small fortunes to come here to listen to some stupid horn in Africa. Come on....
This vuvuzela debate IMO is ludicrous. There is a bigger picture and SO many are too narrow minded to see it. If you want a European world cup with no buzzing noise, go to Europe in 2018.
Nonsense. The most important people in Brazil vs England are the English and Brazilian fans and not local idiots who blow a stupid pipe. You should know that.
