Ahem -- PSL is hardly soccer, it's a bunch of guys trying to go it alone and dancing around the ball instead of dribbling past the opposition.
 
There's nothing more annoying than one or two vuvuzelas, but I've actually got used to the sound of a whole stadium vibrating with the sound of 50 000+.

It's totally psychotic. Adds to the tension and atmosphere, I reckon. Like a billion angry bees.

I don't mind if it remains African, though. It intimidates teams who have to play here, and aren't used to it. ;)
 
I never really had a problem with Vuvz until a few weeks ago, some idiot in the complex here started blowing on that thing at 1 in the morning. Strange thing is, if we some guy walking down the street blowing a trumpet we think he's a madman, yet we think nothing of these things. Boggles the mind :mad:

Yes, a broad interpretation would mean that banning the vuvuzela would discriminate against local culture, which is true it would be disrespectful to our culture.

Let's be known as the noisiest world cup hosts if we have to, but mense, whatever we do DO, let's have some fun.

We are hosting the world, should that not be taken into consideration? what about the the people we host's cultures?

We're hosting the WORLD CUP and not a league game where
any nonsense goes. We'll be hosting FOREIGN TEAMS, FOREIGN VISITORS and FOREIGN MONEY will pay for those media rights. It's not a SOUTH AFRICAN show, it's a WORLD show. If this instrument is deemed uncomfortable to many foreigners then only a cad would push it. Possibly allow it in games where SA plays but in other matches ban it since a South African spectator blowing that horn should not mess life up for genuine fans of these foreign teams.

The Chinese hosted the Olympics. Did they expect everyone to eat with chopsticks and only Chop Suey?

Exactly. Its a retarded idea. The horn isn't even a South African invention, foreign games have been blowing horns since the days of the Colosseum
in pre-Christian Rome.

Lets have real racist swing of truth here, nothing about Soccer is African. Everything involved in it, with exception of the humans playing it, is non African, from the game itself, thru the equipment used on and off the field, to the things the fans use to support and report on the game. It was all designed and given (some would say taken by) to the people who now claim it as an African game, which as shown it is not.

Were the local Chinese forced to eat steak with knives and forks during the olympics just to please the visitors? That analogy does not work.

Yes, soccer is actually Chinese, even Fifa recognizes it as such.. what's your point again? if you're trying to make the point it's European you're mistaken.
