Both seems a little older though - may not fit in with my place. I'm going for more modern and contemporary, but it seems custom the way

Think mine was R5500 on special and I thought it was a very good deal compared to the fake fly wood glued together crap for half the price.

This piece will last forever my children and their children will probably use it one day. Can't say the same for that supawood stuff.

My wife's is a much smaller Mango wood TV cabinet and was about R3500 as I recall. Which was very decent at the time, mine is monstrous in comparison at almost 2m long.

It's not really the price at Weatherleys (although - look my the Sutherlands link!) - but they don't seem to sell more modern, square type stands

Sorry - I didn't explain properly ... I didn't mean square

I meant the angular, straight, no patterns type seen in modern units. The have very simple, smooth lines

Just wondering on colour too

The colour on my current (below) is not really reflecting, but the speakers are like a cherry. The center speaker now sits direct on the stand. Would getting a cherry stand be too much? Stick to darker stand?

Yea - very functional because I had that made as well for components I had at that stage - plus a HTPC in the cupboard, it was great then. A few reasons though :

I've sold off a few things though and I pretty much only have 2 components that I'd like to 'show'. So I don't need 6 spaces, centre speaker space and a cupboard anymore.

I want to wall mount the TV and put the center ontop of the stand and make the whole thing smaller/lower.

It's also 7 years old and getting a little tired.

Just be wary, that will be chipboard with a foil/veneer...

I would be wary of the quality as well.
