AV Stands

Let me be honest.

That looks absolutely *** to me.

When I see the price is looks positively ridiculous.

Agreed. It does look ****. I will upload my 2,2 meter stand lunch time. No way I'm paying 8k for that...

Yea - 2.2m is too long.

This is what I've worked out - 1.60m x 0.6m x 0.45m max. I went too high with my previous at 0.71m

I want dark wood/black and in fact, I would go for this design if it wasn't chipboard and assuming my amp could fit. That needs about 20cm height and weight 15KG

Not physically - it was only yesterday I posted ;)

I checked on their site and nothing there though

Pretty sure if you are ready to pay R8k the you'll get a genuine wood one for half the price at Wetherly's.

Found a picture of both of mine for you.

Obviously those drawers belong inside. That's a 51-inch TV for scale.

Onkyo receiver in the bottom and PS3 and Ps4 in the top shelf.

And then this one is huge. That's a 32-inch.

Same Onkyo receiver at the bottom next to Microserver with Xbox, centre speaker and PS3 on top.

****ty forum then. Both show up here.

Why oh why can't this forum just support inline images and custom avatars?

2,2m is not that wide. I need to make the area where my receiver is a bit wider, so that my PC can fit into there.

That's a 47" for scale.

Yea - yours is nice, but 2.2m wouldn't fit in my room.

Then how wide is that shelf - what if you upgrade?
Can you fit two full sized units side by side?

I've also got a PC - but I'd like put it inside one of the cupboards, as well as a Playstation and Blu Ray? In that case I need the backing removed for heat issues and to run the cables through

I'm willing if it's functional as well. My current one I got 8 years ago and suited all my needs until now - the exact size for everything I had and planned getting, so I didn't mind the issue with getting it made etc.

If I'm spending even R4,000, it needs to meet 90% of my requirements which I feel are quite simple. I'm not sure why I battle to find something tbh. They're either too long, not enough space, not wide enough shelving etc

DONT. I tried that, I bought me a Bitfenix Phenom case for that purpose...That was the most expensive waste of time and money. My PC was getting hot and the window became misty. The Bitfenix case was quite loud as well.

As for the shelf, it's 87 cm wide. My Yamaha RX-V475 is 44 cm I think.

My next case that I want to buy is the Fractal Design Node 605 and I want it to be next to my receiver. Problem is, that case is 44 cm wide as well. So...yeah..1 cm too wide.

Yea - that's the thing - 44cm is a standard width ... so you'll never be able to have two in it? What if you upgrade to a higher amp? Or go the power amplifier route? Surely those designers could made it 90cm to have two side by side? That's the small 'oversights' I mean.

My microserver is in a cupboard right now actually - no issue. I have no back on it though, but runs alright.

EDIT Microserver, so it's small

I'm in JHB :(

But I'm got another quote - also R8,000.00 But I know these guys work - my mom had half her home done by them ;)

That's a good idea, but for the price I paid for the stand...nah, and secondly, the smaller the case, the more noise it makes. If I go for the fractal then I would do water cooling because it is a case that I truly want.

Anyway, where are you based? I know a guy in Wellington that enjoys making stuff from wood. And the wood is quite cheap, paid R343 for a 1.8 m plank, 3 cm think with Africa Assange (or something like that) melanin on it.

I had this little Lap Desk built with that plank.

Noooo....buy the plank up there. It will work out much cheaper. R8000 for a TV stand is overkill, especially one that does not fit the requirements 100%

Nice!

On another note - your center higher than your TV, so you can't put it in front?
If so, how about the TV on the wall?

Exactly what I'll be doing - center is currently sitting in front of the TV, but it blocks the bottom centimeter. A new stand will be 10-15cm lower, so the speaker will be lower and the TV on the wall.

Then I want to test a way to angle the speaker up to my ears - something like this maybe

No at R8,000.00 it's custom - to my spec exactly

Yeah I am mounting my TV to the wall as soon as I buy a house. It will be a tab bit higher so that my Mid speaker will be directly below the TV. I do not like the idea of having my mid on the floor. Almost everything must be ear and eye level for me. Otherwise it's going to bother me.:p
