It's the best free OSX Dock like application I've come across (including windows versions)!

I have a mac and I'll say that the OSX dock is still the best plug and play dock but AVant offers customization that any OSX user will envy. I'm using it as a task manager and impressed with how little resources it uses.

easy to install using apt-get or synaptic package man on ubuntu too.

AWN works well, but if you want customisation, use Cairo dock. It's much better.

On Windows, use Rocketdock or Objectdock

I find Cairo to be really configurable. And it is capable of the fishbowl effect that AWN is not. But the English used by those French people...

I tried Cairo, but I could not figure out how the heck to configure it. It came with a lame xmas theme, and just didn't want to play along. So for now I'm sticking to AWN. It rocks.
