Average time for first accident

24, Driving for 6yrs, none so far touch wood.

20 years driving, no real accidents.(Touch wood)

However, I hit a buck/deer at about 100kph on the highway 15 years ago. R4000 damage, no access. And a bum walked out in front of my car about a year later. R2000 damage, no access.

Its excess, not access.. or did you not have pay for some kind of access card to go into a special building? :p

Hmm, driving 6 years. Was involved in one last year. Claimed the other guy's third party but it didn't want to pay out. The guy ended up paying me my qoute cash. Very nice of him.

Well if you are the problem driver then that would be within the first few months. If you are a victim only of another @sshole driver then its Russian Roullette on a daily scale in South Africa. IT CAN HAPPEN at ANY TIME MIN YOUR LIFE!

That's why it's always best to concentrate and think of what you'll do if the car in front does something funny. Be especially careful if there is an animal or drunk on the side of the road.

License for a year, car for about 10 months and no accidents.
Age 20.

Was involved in a pile up on the N1 about 3 years back in a Tazzz, damaged back & front to the value of around R12,000.

I''m currently thirty ish(ahem, wrong side of 30 ish)...premuims around R1,000 but not terribly sure as it includes household & 2nd car too. Also, primary car is (was) classified as "sports vehicle".

Have been driving for at least 20 years, so was 1st (motorcar) accident.

Hope this helps.

Traveled well over 1mil km's since I got my license, been over the whole of SA and abroad, one mayor accident slipping on a diesel spill near Himeville in the Natal midlands mountain roads. Car spun out of control, hit the side of the mountain 3-4 times, R3000-00 in damages to my car.

I think I was +/- 24 at the time, that was the only accident I had so far.

2 months, 18. R10 000 (for the other cars). Car slid on oil during a thunderstorm and i hit my friends car in front of me who hit a guy in front of him. Wasnt insured, my father had to pay the other guys and my car cost a few extra thousand to repair

18 years old, 6 months after i got the car and my license, wrote both cars in the accident off and put a friend in hospital (though he wasn't wearing a seatbelt even after I told him to do so), and he was only worried that they'd shave his pretty boy hair to stich up the cut on his head... moron.

Wasn't paying the best attention at the time, and pulled into an intersection when I thought a guy was turning right.. and welll he ended up not turning right ..

first accident happened when I stole a car sorta and dented the bumper when I returned it. the owner never found out. I was about 15 years old.

All other accidents were not really my fault, tire on road, hit by other people from side or rear. I was driving for about 4 years, was paying like R250 pm. cant remember other details. This is a pretty useless post I know.

Had my license for 5 years, bought my 1st car @ 24.

2 Months later I rolled it in the rain coming back from Cape Town at night... a road I've driven plenty times before with my parents' car.

R75k write-off :(

4 years. Got a Bantam in 2000 and wrote it off in 2004. Cost new was R75001, got R65000 back from the insurance. Those where the days when the Bantam was still the best half tonner. Currently I have a used 2001 Astra that I bought in 2004, no accident - hope to keep it that way.

43 years, never had a claim against any insurance. The only one was when I rolled my friends beach buggy due to a small overdose of Old Brown waters in the dunes near Walvisbay in Namibia. No major damage except to my ego.

28 now - been driving for 10 years and I hit a tree about 3 years back.

Well, I was 25 with 3 month old liscence, got rear bumbed by a cop in Jo'burg CBD. The car belonged to my father, and not insured, luckly the idiot who hit me was very remorseful and offered to pay for repairs

A few months after getting my license I hit a patch of black ice on my way home and that was that, no more SAAB. :o
