Just to get a rough estimate was wondering if y'all wouldn't mind answering the following.

When you purchased a car (any car...doesn't have to be your first but you can name them all) how long did it take for your first accident and how old were you at the time? Even if you have never had an accident just mention it. Would also help to mention the cost of repair and further incidents but you don't have to if you don't want to :)

Just trying to see if we are being ripped off by insurance but of course this may not be very accurate :D still interesting to know though.

Me --> 2 years, 24, R22000 damage (R4000 excess for being under 25 and R1000 a month premiums all the while :( - but I don't think I was at fault so I may get the money back from other party one day in the next millenium if lucky)

PS any mathematicians welcome to help me with this one ;)

still driving first car bought november 2001 at age 28.

Almost 7.5 years and some 271 000 km later , still no accident .... touch wood.

20 years driving, no real accidents.(Touch wood)

However, I hit a buck/deer at about 100kph on the highway 15 years ago. R4000 damage, no access. And a bum walked out in front of my car about a year later. R2000 damage, no access.

Suuuure you were ;)
Who is sober at 21? And while driving? This is an outrage!

license - 5 years, had car for 3 years, damage to wheels, R4000, because of age excess was 3500 so I ended up paying everything myself. I hate insurance companies

no accidents yet, well, i hit some black dude on a bicycle once while reversing :D he left me a huge scratch on the bumper :(

lol, I parked in front of a friends house a couple of years back and while we were chilling inside I heard a moerske noise outside. Knowing it had something to do with my car I ran outside and found the postman laying in the street next to it :D he had cut the corner while turning right into a T-junction (on bike) and drove smack into the front of my car  - there was a tree blocking the way but if he had taken the turn the way he should have he would have made it easy as all the cars comming and going seem to miss me ...
