yip. that and combination of the 30% increase now causes our account to be about R1000 per month, and it used to be R500-R600 :(:(

A lot also depends on what appliances you are using, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher. Also if you are willing to keep your geyser off for most of the day

we haven't changed any of our habits. It is just due to the ridiculous high increase that our bill is so much more

Water : R1200-1500
Electricity : R1000 - R1300 (we know use a gas stove so the amount should drop)

that's for a house with a pool, and 7-8 ppl.

Please advise me on this problem: Can a water meter which Tshwane municipality installed at a Complex, be faulty? Since this meter was installed in July, the water consumption for the open area (gardens), increased from the normal 33.16kl per month to 669.40kl. We use very little water in the gardens. 669.40kl amounts to 22,000 litres PER DAY and this has been going on since July! There are 2 meters; a big one and a small one. The small one runs very fast all the time, even after turning most of the resident's water off. We have had no trouble untill this new meter was installed.

either that meter is faulty, or you have a serious water leak

We live in a sectional title apartment so the levy is quite high, but it includes everything except the new property rates, payable directly to the Council.

Surely one would notice dampness with a water loss of 22,000litres p.d. over a period of 4 months? I also think that it could be the meter being faulty.

We did report it to Tshwane but no one came to check yet. In the meantime, we are holding on to a bill for R8,500 !!
