Right.
On top of the data issues I'm having, I've also got a problem with another contract that I took out, for my home alarm system.
I signed up for a month-to-month Straight UP 30 contract, and added a 300 SMS per month bundle.
The store loaded the contract as a 24 month contract. They then "corrected" this to a month-to-month, but somehow my contract changed from a straight up 30 to a straight up 100, with no SMS bundle.
End result, my phone bill is double what it should be, as the alarm system sends 10-15 smss per DAY (which is the reason for the bundle).
So I queried this. They acknowledged their error and initiated an investigation.

Fast forward to today - I called to enable roaming on my new contract.
Agent: No sir you need to pay us R2500 because your contract is less than 3 months old.
Me: What about my other contract? That's more than 3 months, can you not enable it on the strength of that?
Agent: but this other contract is suspended for exceeding its credit limit
*cue explosion*

Then the agent hung up on me.
Nice.

This sorta thing happens at the other operators as well unfortunately. I am however leaving Cell C because of the data issues

@ Sinbad & raka, I suggest you forward your complaints to the Cell C rep here on the Forum??

data issues = Cellc isnt fixing it, it seems
wrong contract issues = you were helped by a moron unfortunately

And change your agent too!

What do you mean enabling roaming? Roaming by Vodacom is enabled by default. If you meant international roaming, then it is right - R2500 is a deposit if your credit limit is too low.

Also:

The following errors occurred with your submission
Cell C has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.

If you are trying to send this message to multiple recipients, remove Cell C from the recipient list and send the message again.

Yes, international roaming. The agent said nothing about credit limit, she said it was because the contract was less than 3 months old. However, I have a contract older than 3 months as well, which is how this "suspension" came up.

Hi 'Sinbad' i got your PM. will follow this up. *DM*

I had massive issues just trying to get a contract with Cell C, so I will also be staying far away from them. I turned down Vitality mobile when I heard they use Cell C.

Have to say though - the Cell C rep here is excellent. Maybe give them a try?

Luckily for me Cell C data coverage is good where I am but did notice certain areas have terrible reception

I have a very good signal but intermittent throughput. In different locations. So I'm guessing coverage isn't really the problem?

Yup. Full signal, HSPA+ indication, and no throughput.
