That is what or who I am referring too. The cricket Springboks! :D The Proteas cannot really bother me anymore. Let the Springboks go and leave the Proteas to themselves. :D

Nel is one of them, a true Springbok performer so is Smith, actually all those wearing the green and gold. The Proteas is those players that did not earn a place but are there for political agendas and achievements.

I've enjoyed watching Kevin Peterson of late, scratching around for form, plodding along defensively against the might of New Zealand.

Strange that nobody on this weird Nel train hasn't noticed what a few have for a while, that he's been out of bloody form for the last 2 years.

Well just look at the stats, He performed well lately and remember he was in and out of the team consistently and not due to performance or lack thereof.

As for Peterson, one man cannot carry the whole poor performing English team. We will see/compare when we have to play NZ. They are very good ATM.
 
I don't like him much, but he isn't a bad player.

He would make it into the England side.
His stats are better than Harmison, Flintoff and Hoggard's.
 
Does anyone actually even think of Langevelt as a player of colour? I dont see how "transformation" is helped by having someone like him or Gibbs in the team. I could probably accept it more if they had a quota of 2 black players or something, even though we only have one now

While I don't like Nel, the situation is as follows. He was picked and the selectors were overruled under transformation. Had he been dropped because of form, thats one thing but being dropped because of his colour is another.
 
tbf harmison in the form of the last 2 or 3 years is hardly the bowler you want to be compared to. and tbh england are hardly a hot team since around the time of their moment of glory - winning the ashes.

I somehow doubt the greater cricket world would bemoan the loss of nel to world cricket on the basis that he is a consistent top performer

Nel clearly bringing up the rear in stats over the last two years. Over the career about on par with the English boys. Note that for Flintoff and Harmison the averages are under the BBM column. And the fact that Harmison and Hoggard have been dropped for the second test against NZ should say something about comparing Nel to them.

With Albie and Morne knocking on the door, does he think he will be missed?

And as for the topic at hand, Nel is not the type of bowler required for indian pitches, if he does not get assistance from the pitch, then he starts with his theatrics. Langevelt gets movement through the air and thats what we need. Our spinners are pretty good, if they are not taking wickets, they keep the runs down.

I actually have a good feeling about the Indian tour.

I think you are missing the beeger peetcha. If discrimination in sport continues, we will lose many more talented players. Eventually our teams will not have a good chance of winning and disillusioned sporting youngsters will simply either leave the country or direct their energies towards other activities.

Nope, this is a player that has not been performing to his usual levels and is dropped. Then he goes and throws his toys out.
