Ever since I moved to Axxess as my ISP I have found that it takes hours to update my system when Microsoft releases updates and patches on Update Tuesday. on one occassion I tried to update my system from windows 8 to Windows 8.1, finally got it done after multiple restarts and 19.5 hours. When I was with Afrihost, MWEB and/or Telkom it took equivalent of 7to 9hrs to download and update the same files. I even tried to up date AMD and NVidia drivers, what was 2hr at most process on other ISP's on Axxess it was 7 to 10hr process. Axxess blames the firewall on my system, but moving to a different ISP made the difference. with no changes to firewall settings. Could never recommend Axxess as ISP. They may be great for companies, but for home user, the throttling on those sites is horrendous. Appears they want people to keep their systems vunerable, so they can be attacked and used as bots.

Axxess/Afrihost home uncapped is bad, the business accounts are MUCH, MUCH better and still quite cheap.

Home or business? Strangely, I have the same experience on business. Have to update my Nvidia drivers via filehippo because downloading from the Nvidia website simply times out.

I have to agree with Olcroc! On the 04/08/14 i got their 4mb home uncapped, which was going well as i was getting speeds over 350mbps and then 9 days later it was between 12 - 30kbps.....and their reply is that "they can't do anything about it" so therefore i have cancelled the service.

What about the Axxess capped accounts?

Downloading and streaming on those are alright or not really? Which network do they make use of?

EDIT: I see they have 1GB free, guess I will give it a go and see. Although some feedback would still be nice :D

Axxess and Afrihost are both MTN network based ISPs. Try the capped offering and have a go at international streaming content.

The Upstream service provider is the problem though.. 20-30% packet loss when trying to play online games (Local and International) And no eta as to when they'd resolve this problem.

Is it bad for gaming??

Which games are affected or all?

Oi Psyclown!

If you go Axxess go Business, even at a lower speed. While I know you personally enough to know no account is probably enough for your erm uhh "habits", the 4mb Business Uncapped has been enough for mine. Full speed 24/7 sans a network or line issue, and I've actually run out of crap to download.

ALSO here's a nice trick Axxess support put me on to. Axxess don't do the month's notice BS, and charge pro-rata. So you could sign up on say the 26th of a month, pay incredibly little, experience the account and if unhappy cancel it before the new month and be home free and all the wiser.

What's the download cap limit on uncapped business, and what happens when you reach it?

All the games I was actively playing (Diablo3, Battlefield4, Dota2).. with BF4 and Dota2 Being unplayable and Diablo 3 having major lag spikes every few minutes

That's just one random guy.

Many people max the connection everyday. Unless the Reps say that the policy has changed I wouldn't trust the word of a random poster that could be trolling.

Two random guys. My torrents and NZBs were running at 10 kilobytes per second this morning.
