Axxess Auth issues?

same here still, but will see what happens for awhile as I was quite pleased with them in the past

Me being a tech-noob, maybe one of you guys can tell me wether or not this is an AXXESS auth issue or not.

I've got an unshaped account from AXXESS, and a Telkom 5100 ADSL router (yes yes I know :o ), I'm getting constant disconnections when playing WOW (I use it mainly for gaming, and lately that's been WOW LOL). What I've noticed when this happens is that the PPP light goes off, the ADSL light remains on solidly (which means to me that the exchange is still there), and then the PPP light flickers and flickers and flickers...I need to swich the modem off and wait 2 minutes or so and then back on, and then sometimes it still doesn't connect...

I take it the PPP light means I'm authenticated and on their network? Would going over to, say Imaginet, improve this? I've never struggled with so many disconnections before I went to AXXESS...and lately with "everyone" complaining about AXXESS I've been wondering if the problem isn't with them instead of with the network or the servers I'm playing on...

Finally Sorted

Hi it seems that the authentication problems have been sorted out. I connected the first time i tries as have the other staff members this morning. Is everyone else good.

Why does telkom cause this misery? And what took so damn long to have it sorted out?

Just as I was about to cancel, lol. I don't think Telkom can be to blame - why did none of the other ISPs have the same prob?

I think Telkom is doing this on purpose, make all other ISP's on the SAIX network unusable one by one, causing edgy subscribers to move to another ISP's, or back to TelkomInternet ISP. I'm sure this kind of thing will still happen in the near future to other ISP's, even the IS guys have been influenced by Telkom's plots (the whole peering thing).

To Telkom: Sorry I refuse, even if I have crappy connections regulary, I will stay with Axxess. They have in the past given me excellent service, and I'm sure once they get their stuff sorted we will see it again. I blame Telkom for this and not Axxess.

I have to agree. I just can't believe that someone at Axxess thought "Lets start screwing our customers around to see how many we can lose". Axxess have signaled their intentions to set up their own system in January so this i likely the cause. They are probably a very low priority in Telkom's eyes at the moment. Even if it is not on purpose, it could just be Telkom's usual "I don't give a s#1t attitude".

Cheers

I have said this in another thread about Telkom and a letter I have received from an ISP:

but nowhere near THE MAFIA TACTICS THAT TELKOM AND THE BUNCH OF LAWYERS they employ. I have a letter in my possession in reply to the question of why ISP's keep quiet about being called liars that stated that if they dared open their mouths, some inexplicable things would start happening to their networks and that they thus are not prepared to risk everything they have worked for. If you think that this is farfetched, think what they did to IS this month, what is happening to SAOL and AXXESS.

Axxess Cap

 Problem With Axxess I Think So - Only Used 4.5gig Of 5Gig Acc Already Capped

I am using an 'unshaped' account to play WoW - 2000ms latency? WTF AXXESS??!!!

I think the root of the problem can be found on Telscum's side. It seems like international is quite dodgy lately on most SAIX ISP accounts.

I have had no problems with my Axxess account, no auth issues nothing. So i dont reckon this is a global issue. Thats my 2cents

well seems to be sorted since yesterday or when it was said to be fixed in this thread sometime.. cause i reconnected eachtime seemlessly which was amazing even though it should be like that.

Had same auth issues earlier in Nov but it seems to be sorted. Got a problem with axxess bandwidth counting - they are counting more than I actually used!! How accurate is the monitoring system - its quite critical since we are paying through our noses for the little bit of data we are allowed on the Telkom controlled internet in RSA.

Sorted here, authenticating first time, every time

dunno their one on the website looks wierd with duplicates occationally and out-of-date etc. i just use the saix one and that utility to check it. userstats.dsl.saix.net i think/ gives nice graphs

I don't know too much about how lines in SA are set up. Can someone asnwer this for me ?

Axxess is a "SAIX ISP" right ? Assume that this means that Axxess buys bandwidth from SAIX. I see on Axxess's website that they are going set up their own "infrastructure" don't know what means.

Does Imaginet use the same ? Who does Imaginet buy their bandwidth from ?

I thought everyone buys bandwidth from Telkom ?

Seems I need to be on an ISP that has as little to do with Telkom and Telkom related(i.e. SAIX) as possible ?????

I'm confused.

Go for an IS solution like OpenWeb. That is the least you will deal with Telkom
