With usage like this.

I'm on a 1 meg uncapped account.

IS MY USAGE UNREASONABLE?!?!?!

Seems like service providers have become paranoid *******s.

Please note: Network performance has stabilized and all services are now fully operational. We thank you for your patience.

Oh yes, didn't see Picard as an Apple user though...

So, how does one tell if their account is managed? The status on the bandwith usage page?

Weekend a bit rough that you're having a slow monday?

No it just makes no sense to me. It's like my electricity units dropping because someone down the road switched on his heater.

Hmph, I think I'll try afrihost next month then.

Axxess and Afrihost is the same company these days with the same shaping policies.

No it just makes no sense to me. It's like my electricity units dropping because someone down the road switched on his heater.

So your ISP has let's say 10Gbps of total bandwidth available to them, if thousands of users suddenly decide to download 700MB at the same time they will use up all of that bandwidth congesting the network resulting in a degraded experience for everyone. This is why ISP's shape bandwidth to allow real-time services to continue working while slowing down non-real-time services.

ISP's don't have 1Mbps of bandwidth for every 1Mbps they sell, they contend it somewhere between 1:20 and 1:50 so for every 20-50Mbps they sell they only buy 1Mbps.

Same with power, if everyone switches on their heaters at the same time there won't be enough power running through the grid and you will have blackouts.

Well they claim not to shape realtime services, ie: youtube etc. At the moment my streaming was terrible on axxess when before it was fine. It costs nothing to hop around, so I'll judge then.

I've been streaming full HD for most of the weekend without any issues despite being managed.

Maybe they are trying to kill off Axxess slowly, by getting rid of the subscribers.

Possibly, I have a axxess 3GB capped account for backup which I haven't needed to use so far this month and just received the following:

Dear Axxess Subscriber, This is an automated email from our servers. A friendly notification that according to our records your usage on account [mick***@axxess] at 2013/09/23 reflected the following: Total bandwidth used: 0.00 Account limit: 3 Please bear in mind that this is a usage-based service and as such is subject to a ADSL Account Limit of 3 To purchase additional bandwidth please login to your control panel at Control Panel where you can upgrade your existing account. If you haven't received your client code and password yet, please contact our support department on 0861 300 900 and after verifying your identity they will hand it out to you. When paying by credit card, your upgrade will be activated immediately. When not paying by credit card then:

... in addition to 3 SMS messages informing me I've used 100% :wtf:
