Hi guys,

So, I decided to re-open my Astraweb account as their were items I couldn't find elsewhere. However speeds are **** im getting 30Kb/s on a 4096kbps line / account.

I assume its being shaped heavily or maybe Astraweb just got ****ter over time. Can anyone comment or recommend a new usenet provider?

Also does Openweb Gold at 4096kbps allow for full line speed? Never had an issue on it with my 384kbps line so I might just move back.

Thanks,
J

yeah go for gold.

best usenet provider i have use is usenetserver.com as they have nice ssl ports :P

I download at 400+ from Astraweb (OW Gold)

Thanks. I thought so , must be Axxess :(

Can you guys recommend good NZB index sites other than the local newzhost.za.net which I already have access to. Can be international, dont care, using paid for news server etc. I've been out of the news loop for a while. Also is their an RSS like feature to automate your downloads like I can with certain torrent feeds?

Thanks
J

Hi Killa,

I looked at newsdemon before I recativated my Astraweb - but the reviews online weren't great - do you have personal experience using it? The 50 vs 20 connections provided by Astraweb looks a good way to increase download speeds.

Any good NZB trackers atm, anyone have invited for an old mybb member :D - my fav site newzleech seems to be dead.

Thanks
J

Hmmm, openweb gold is coming as soon as mweb is finished.

http://www.newsdemon.com/discount-usenet.php that is the best provider, 50 connections, ssl is good and that free online storage is rather handy as well all for 9.99 :D

Dude astraweb is absolute crap.

SSL port 80 with 50 connections for 9.99 is amazing from newsdemon. I have used giganews, astraweb and about 10 others and none of them are as cheap and effective as newsdemon. I have been using newsdemon for around 5 months or so and it's been good to me.

Astraweb has ssl server but they do not support it which confused me a bit :D.

nzbmatrix is the best :D. That 30gb storage is also nice, keep my work files on it as back up :D

no, Astraweb have ssl servers in both the eu and the us..
I get 900+ from astraweb (vial ssl) using the uncapped express package...
I pay 9.99 for astraweb with 20 connections. tho the number of connections is irrelevant imo because I max out my speed on 10.

I've never had a days hassles with Astraweb. If my connection is running smoothly I always get full speed on the 443 SSL port.

Good index sites are: nzbmatrix (though they are having problems with their rss feeds atm), nzbsrus, newzbin and nzb.su (nice for HD movies).

My combination is OW Gold 4Mb (VB) + Astraweb + NZBmatrix + sabnzbd + couchpotato + sickbeard = Awesome :D

Last time I tried that it messed up my entire library. Has it got any better?

I don't know how you managed that as couchpotato doesn't touch your existing collection at all - I wish it had this option so I could organise stuff that was already downloaded. I love this app though, it gets better with every release (was very sketchy with file naming in the beginning). Updates roll out at least once a week so you must keep it up to date.

Astraweb is fantastic. The local news servers are crap!

Yea that's what I'm talking about... Tho its probably kinda my fault a little.
I thought I would just use couchpotato to move my existing library to another drive and get the lot named better.. did not work as planned

I will give it another look tho.. Does it categorize on genre?

I have to say, I first tried Newsdemon and everything older then 400 days would have missing articles here and there... EVERYTHING.

Changed to Astraweb and all has been perfect. Doesn't work to great with axxess uncapped if I'm honest. Got a few missing articles on new things but if I use local server or my WA account it downloads fine.

Got axxess uncapped from someone for this month and it's rubbish slow. You get 30kb/s all day, around 90kb/s all night and full speed from midnight to 6am roughly

+1 this is what i'm experiencing on Axxess Just Uncapped 4096kbps account. I might consider moving to Openweb Gold again.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

A noob question for you. I'm on Axxess Just uncapped and it states that I have access to newsgroups. What benefits do newsgroups offer over conventional sites which I use with Vuze as a client? Where do I start with newsgroups, and why/how do I do the whole port thing?
