Axxess Uncapped Express Report Back!

So I thought Id post this to let you all know how its going... :)

I have a Telkom 4mb line, located Edgemead, Cape Town. (sweet spot connected to the new exchange), with Axxess Uncapped Express + @R999 monthly.

This is my first uncapped account, so I have been quite skeptical and nervous. I've been with Webafrica prepaid for sometime now, and decided to keep it active... indefinitely...

So besides struggling to get my user and pass from them yesterday, things have gone really well.

The surfing speed is totally within normal speed for my line, and downloads are also within speed. I use torrents quite a lot, and can say that I had a couple with less than 150 seeds and I was pulling +- 100KB/sec. When I started using popular torrents I was pulling around +-350KB/sec. This is consistent with my other account, so Im very happy at the moment.

I set some torrents going last night, and this morning they were ALL completed and total download was about 25GB :cool: (correction, 18GB, one is still busy!)

Well Im gonna push this line hard, so I'll soon find out.

I have the cheap 384kbps option, which has a threshold of 5GB, and Im waaay over that and still going strong :)

I will post when/if it goes horribly wrong...

simple really :)

that 384 is ONLY for weekdays 8am to 8pm. all other hours, including weekends run at the FULL line speed, regardless of the account you have with Axxess.

The threshold comes into play if you exceed yours within the 10 period. I have already, which means that now Im throttled to 192 8am to 8pm weekdays.

make sense? :)
 
Quick question, how much is the total, including line rental?

well we got that Telkom Closer plan 5 (i think its plan 5) so the 4mb ADSL is part of the monthly bill. I dont pay anyof that...

Just the R999 for Axxess

Yeah that sucks I know, but Im at the office during the day anyway so it really doesnt matter... Normally get home around 6pm, so that is two hours of shaped, which is why I kept my Webafrica prepaid account..

192kbps does make me feel a bit sick though :sick:
 
I know its only Day 1 but Im gonna setup uTorrent web UI :cool:

Then I can control all my uploads/downloads from here!

Only problem is this Axxess account does not come with a static IP. I called them and pretty much begged, but told me to get lost! :D Totally acceptable, I was trying my luck!

So Im off to http://www.no-ip.com/ and then http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=8639 to get this all sorted out. I'll let you all know how it goes...

Indeed, which is why it shouldn't be a problem provided you are close enough.

IIRC to get 4Mbit one must be around <2.5km from the exchange. Stand to be corrected though.
