Axxess Uncapped Express Report Back!

Only problem is this Axxess account does not come with a static IP. I called them and pretty much begged, but told me to get lost! :D Totally acceptable, I was trying my luck!

So Im off to http://www.no-ip.com/ and then http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=8639 to get this all sorted out. I'll let you all know how it goes...

Maybe already know the answer but what do u need a static ip for?

no way Im gonna spend my life running ipconfig on that machine... :(

another method is a small utility that runs on your pc that sends an email everytime your external IP is updated, but I dont like that idea.

another method . . . many routers will handle the dyndns login for you.

express is SAIX for R999 a month and express + is Internet Solutions for R899 a month.

in case you arent aware, SAIX is cable based and Internet Solutions is Satellite based

cool thanks for the info - i always have weird routing issues with my axxess saix accounts - various sites i can't reach etc, so i'll give the IS version a go.
 
are you sure. SAIX don't do unlimited bandwidth. I'm pretty sure both is IS bandwidth. The one is just IS Satelite and the other one is IS Fiber.

Correct me if I'm wrong!

You quite correct.. they are both IS, I see the email settings are the giveaway...

Hi

So im getting a better feel for this line now, and I can definitely confirm that getting "Page cannot be displayed" is a regular thing. Itw weird though coz for a couple of sites I simply cant get into AT ALL! :( A very popular torrent site is one of them.. the biggest in fact... its damn annoying. This is while im downloading nothing, the line is idle. I connected with my Nokia and it went in no problem...

Blocked!? :confused:

I havent touched news servers yet, but I will be this week and I will post results here.

There were problems with that site the last couple of days (including a DoS attack). I've battled with Axxess,Telkom and M-Web to load the site.

Maybe you can get your Linux distro tonight ;)
 
Well, once you hit up giganews, let us know. It could be a deal-maker if they have good speeds for that :)
 
mmm wonder if Axxess has shares in HDD manufacturers...I am a hardcore downloader but WTF do you do with 700GB's of sh!@#?
