Axxess Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

Speeds are terrible on Axxess uncapped basic 4MB. I moved over from the express+ for this month and already regretting it. I thought that at least browsing speeds would be decent but I get 384 speeds all the time on any protocol. I am seriously thinking something is wrong with the IS network. Did a speed test earlier and confirmed the 384 speeds. Will be moving to MWEB next month.

I bitched at them at last ( I was getting average of 12Kb's a second download, Peaking at 40Kb's through STEAM!) AT NIGHT. I have a 4MB uncapped package and I don't download excessivly).
Here's the response I get:

Greetings MR -REMOVED-, We have received an official response from IS on the slowness encountered on the 4096kbs express uncapped shaped accounts. They stated that all 4096kbs uncapped shaped express accounts are best effort delivery. The also stated that they will be upgrading their infrastructure to accommodate the popularity of the product, they unfortunately did not state the date of completion. If I may recommend that you either downgrade to a 512kbs uncapped unshaped account as the 384kbs and 512kbs accounts are in separate pools or you can purchase an express plus account.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Regards,
-REMOVED-

I am not currently impressed with them.

Not a good start

I moved from Afrihost to Axxess yesterday due to the lack of service from Afrihost (long story). I am very disappointed in the speeds I am getting in comparison to the same product at Afrihost?

If anybody is using this product for longer than I have please tell me this is temporary...
This speed test was done 10min ago, and 20kbps slower than what I had on Afrihost.

I do not think this is due to the Seacom issue as I has a similar result yesterday straight after I signed up.

Here is a ping test I took about 5 mins ago

That is just unacceptable. Even with a shaped account, there is no way in hell i should be getting a ping of 969ms! This happens every night and has made my raiding (I am a wower) an exercise in frustration!

International connectivity restored
Please reboot your router if your speed it not back to normal

I have rebooted my router and the local speedtest looks fine.

Test from Axxess to (You)

Your current bandwidth reading is:
3.11 Mbps

Which means you can download(Max) at 398.09 KB/sec.

My Axxess Express account - which is normally very reliable has gone to **** in the last hour or so. Speeds all over the place - barely usable atm.

I signed up with them last night and activated them immediately. I am not really impressed but I knew what I was getting into especially with a 384k line, my downloads are decent (25-35k) but the reason why I use them is because they are local, so if the **** hits the fan I can drive down there and moan to a person face to face. So I am sticking with the devil I know rather than the one I don't.

384 uncapped has been pretty stable since the April SEACOM fiasco, I've averaged 2GB a day since the beginning of May (mainly downloading Linux stuff at night) and only had to switch to Telkom during yesterdays outage.

It seems to be the best option at moment even for 4MB users (different pools apparently) but IS is supposed to be working on it.

Eveyone tells me to wait and see after the World Cup, why do we always have to wait?

Yeah, here's my conspiracy theory for the day - all the recent hiccups are disaster testing by Telkom for the WFC :D

It seems suspicious that Telkom have sailed thru the trials & tribulations with no problems.

Tiz sucks - from Mweb uncapped to this peice of crap .... I did 800 GB on Mweb 4096 uncapped last month with 3 Seacom outages.

Note: Was'nt even trying.

Clearly at the wrong ISP.

Why did you switch then? I actually went the other way (axxess to mweb) and I can tell you that the difference is huge. Full speeds on mweb since I joined and that is day and night. Already downloaded 130GB this month

I wanted an ISP where you didnt have to give a months notice in advance to stop your internet ... I'm reckoning its quite possible to do 1.2 TB a month provided that you dont know what you are getting.

O yeah and space issues were killing me.

Well Mine seems even more buggered now. The latest fantasy story from Axxess is that IS will be upgrading their infrastructure on the 17th. Yeah right. Lets see if that sorts out the issue.

AXXESS clearly has capacity issues !!!!

This is like the MJ song .. "All I wanna say is that they don't really care about us" !?!

I use Mweb 4mb uncapped at home, but at my office they decided to go with Axxess 4mb uncapped (against my advice that their uncapped service is rubbish), having been capped customers with them for some time. At home things are working great, but at the office, OMG international is terrible. I can't even get Gmail to load correctly. Seriously, just pay the extra R50 and go Mweb.

Dude, I am not having the same as you. I have a couple of Business clients on 384k and 512k uncapped with Axxess, international is very good when it comes to browsing, but torrents are throttled. Mweb and Axxess are offering exactly the same accounts but at different prices. Why can't people understand that they are all going through IS, so the throttling will happen for a while. Mweb can't give the same service that I have received from Axxess.

Agreed - the way it was shaped in April was terrible but it's been very smooth in May even with torrents running.

News servers reached a max of 350 kbps last nite, not what I'm paying for at this stage.
Mweb was pretty damn fast when I was there - u get the impression here that you are shaped to hell.
Yes and 100 kbps does make a difference when you need to get stuff done.
I can't see anyone doing 800 GB with this account a month !!!!
