Axxess - Update

I don't get it... Why all the fuss? We won't notice any difference between SAIX and IS, as they're almost the same. (http://www.imaginet.co.za/faq/ADSL#faq_09)
Or am I missing something?
Using a SAIX account, you can go to a youtube movie and the movie will start downloading.

Using an IS account, you can go to a youtube movie and the movie will not start downloading immediately, there is this bizzare delay of anything from 0.5 to 2 seconds before it begins downloading. This delay is annoying because it happens with normal browsing as well.

Then, I use SAIX's SMTP server for email delivery, the sudden switch to IS broke my email (Because you have to be a SAIX user to use the SAIX SMTP Server)

Then, when the switch actually happened, there was a mess up with the assigning of DNS server details when you connect, which was only fixed the next day.

Couple that with the ringing AXXESS telephone during the DNS crisis, which is supposed to be answered quicky 24/7 ...

FAIL!

(That's what all the fuss is about .. :p)

All this has done is made me realise how much I love my WA account than you very much.

Done and done.

Entered the new axxess login details on my smoothwall, and all seems to be working fine.

I'm willing to stick with Axxess as the prepaid vouchers (which can be bought at any Engen/PnP) is a great thing to have.

Nope, all of us are just having PMS and figured it would be fun to bitch & moan for a change as our week have been dull so we figured it would be nice to spice things up and go to town on a company that doesn't deserve it at all.

What a sarcastic comment from AcidRaZor and no body picked it up :p

But then again she does have 10k posts behind her name :D

Don't you think that Super Grandmaster is a bit sexist based on her gender

A quick question,
I am currently on a cybersmart line. Is it possible for me to use axxess top-up vouchers on this adsl line? if yes, then how?

yes, you simply need to purchase a voucher at a Pick 'n Pay, Engine or even online and type the voucher username and password into your router or broadband dialup connection.

It should be noted that it's against Cybersmart's Terms of Service to make use of another ISP when you have an account with Cybersmart. I think they generally turn an eye to this but have a search for some previous posts on this.

Well I'm relieved that the prepaid local accounts are still SAIX, I bought 25GB's worth a few days ago.

No, all prepaid accounts are still R69.00 / R70.00 at ENGEN, Pick n' Pay and on the Axxess website. They are Semi-shaped now ver. shaped before.

It's over fibre 24/7. Not satellite.

So where does the R59 come in? I'm confused.

This whole thing only applies to the prepaid international accounts according to the above post?

Only found this thread last night, and duly sent off a mail to axxess as per the OP's instructions to get myself back on saix. (Where would we be without MyBB??!!) Me -oh- my, what a difference. I thought the internet was broken for a few days there...

Axxess may have handled this "not-so-well", but a thumbs up to them for a ten minute turnaround on the request - added the .s to my account name and, as I said above: wow!

So what makes IS so sucky?

Probably their satellites made from pots and pans.

Hey n00b, wanna be axxed? Yes please sir. Cool, sign up with axxess :p ;) :D

Axxess - I spend in excess of R7,000 per month with you - This switching of ISPs from SAIX to IS has created havoc in terms of my 6x ADSL lines and associated VPN connections which now have fallen over due to the fact that the VPN configs we use can only be established across SAIX networks due to access controls in place.

I will be in contact on Monday to convey a formal complaint and demand compensation for your actions.

I will also be lodging a formal complaint with the ISPA as you have redirected all traffic destined for smtp.saix.net to smtp.isdsl.net which essentially is hijacking a domain which you are not entitled.

/pats da good olde nexusISP and webafrica, at least i know they won't just go ahead and **** around with my accounts without consent.

guess its time they acknowledge that there was a huge cockup and at least refund 1x month usage to their users whom they have put in a fix. Where in you life have you seen a company that just decides zomg i think my clientele is going to be better of on X instead of Y and then do a quick swop without any prior engagement or at least a consensus...

...not even ODS went so far

Hi

I am also on Axxess. I have just installed my ADSL line and have never been able to get to any website. I am using a Microcom router which has a very user friendly setup program but I never got the hang of it. I could extablish connection fine, the modem is working well but I can't get to any website.

Please help.

Primary DNS: 196.43.42.190
Secondary DNS: 196.43.45.190

Wait! I think they changed!! I had previously put in those on Axxess website.

i'll throw a bone and say that the change's motivation was not no1 for the benefit of the clientele, but more in reason of cost cutting as it seems that the is semi unshaped are at cheaper rates vs saix normal to the isp's; benefits of semi unshaped are just by products ;)
