The other bigger player Afrihost only round about the 20th at a cost of R999

I’m so sick of adsl sickness....

check online for a cheap affordable one and get a sim option from any of the retailers for the data package.

The B618 new retails for $499 maybe you can get it somewhere cheaper for like $400 but it's an expensive router. If you mean cheap you could get them from gumtree pr olx I guess.

I just placed an order at Afrihost, hopefully they get stock soon.

Also placed and order with MWEB for my 2nd one, as they are the only ones that still give the B618 for free. Don't mind waiting till Dec though.

Want to do the same. I see free router choose B315 or B618 and 1 month free. Can't beat that. The terms does say minimum 12 month for router to be free or R2499 charge depending how many months is left. So it's essentially R2499 - R209 for each month until 12 months then it's free and paid off.

Want to get that deal for my parents and take back my telkom uncapped sim since my rain sim does not work in a mifi anymore.

@cavedog Where do you see this? I am unable to find it on their site. Regardless, if it works for 12 months, there will be no need to cancel it and it's more than enough for my mom.

I have checked on their homepage click on the offer select which router both out of stock and apply T&C 12 Months.

If you click through the order on the next page they will explain the T&C of the free router offer.

Yeah, because I wasn't in a coverage area, I had to sign a form for them, and on that email, they also mentioned it.

So I had a massive power surge the other day which fried most of my electronics including my lovely B618.
I have managed to lay my hand on a B315 for the time being, which is working just fine (I don't notice any difference as yet), but I am wondering whether I should replace the B618, or just use the B315. Cost is not the issue, but want to know which would be the better of the two in the long term.
Forumites suggestions would be appreciated.

Possibly the B618 - is an insurance claim not an option?

Thanks Xzib1t. Yes - insurance claim is being processed (through City Power). Just want to know which of the two I should consider once the payout has been finalised.

The 618 is the 'better' model as indicated by the higher cost. This is a LTE Category 11? device (600mbps max) as opposed to the 315 which is a LTE category 4 device (300Mbps max). Also, the B618 has ac WiFi in addition to n only 315.

Okay, so I confirmed it this weekend. Test were done in Dalpark with both B315 and B618 next to each other. PC connected over wifi. The B315 got about 7mbps download and the B618 got 22mbps. The beers were calling, so no pics were taken. :D It should be noted that the upload speeds on the B315 were better, than on the B618. Latencies were the same. No external antennae were connected, except for the bunny ears on the B315.

Thanks for all this feedback guys. So we'll see when insurance then pays out and I'll go for the B618.

Thanks for this information! Now I'm glad I paid extra to get the B618 instead.

Finally a B 618 through mweb with BF.
Installation was easy Peasy.
The speed is busy driving me batty!
Did test it beforehand and was fine. At times I get 2mbps up to 30 odd Mbps . Patience is a virtue....
