Backup power option for AP over PoE

Hi all.

Want to use this EAP-115Wall AP from Tp-link to get some access in the garage. (with current setup this is easiest option).
But at some point I want to add some battery backup.

So, I'm trying to find out what the actual voltage is that this AP would use.
I did ask on their forum and was just pointed to an active 802.3af injector.

Hoping that if I can find out the voltage, I could then either use an existing setup (1-12V) or DC UPS like Gizzu.
But these have passive outputs of 15/24/48 so again, not sure which one can work.
 
I'm going to have a similar issue in the near future.

I'm going to be upgrading my wifi at home and it seems that all the new APs are requiring 802.3af or 802.3at standard PoE where my existing wifi is Passive PoE so 12v vs 48v.
 
Randomly doing the digging I came across this product for battery backup on PoE.


Have bought one to see if it will do the job of powering on 802.3af access point.

Have you bought it already, as the device psu will indicate power output.

Uniterm sells these units with a selectable 48v PoE that reportedly work with most devices
 
Ok, so far its only been about 20 minutes or so, but the little Acconet unit I linked to seems to be working a treat.

At the very least, I've powered it up, plugged in an 802.3af compliant Access Point and its happily powered itself up and is running. Will leave it for a few hours just ot make sure the UPS unit charges fully, and there aren't any random reboots/power downs on the AP and if it all looks good will get myself a few more to power the APs in the house while the rest of the networking kit is powered through one of those Ultralink Mini-UPS thingys.
