Bad Driving thread

Speaking of lights - I also do replace rear brake lights on my 'Rolla, but the hazard/reverse lights are still stock.

Front headlights I replaced with newer ones.

Broken lights can also be caused by dry solder joints or the filaments breaking from the vibration of the boot lid closing.

I had a most irritating one with our Sharan. Left rear indicator stopped working. Opened the cluster, light works. Put it back, it works. After a while it ^#%#^ stop working.

In desperation I replaced it with a new bulb, and the problem went away.

The Sharan, what bulb was in there and what bulb did you replace it with? Depending on the year, that sounds like a resistance issue with the CANBUS.

My old Honda Ballade that I used to own had all it's original bulbs from when it was manufactured in 1995 up until I sold it in 2014 - not one was replaced nor burnt out, and all the fuses were still original too. That car was so well built it sometimes defied belief and I do regret that I eventually sold it.
My Merc went through globes reasonably regularly (but I did drive with lights on all the time). The Merc, however, would give warnings on the dash whenever a bulb failed, and it would usually switch out the failed light for one that was working (for example, if a brake light filed, it would start using the rear foglight as a brake light).

Good job by das Germans once again

No it is a plague all new car models suffer from. On any day you choose to name at any time of the day a short trip down Lynnwood Road in PTA, you will we 3 or 4 cars without working lights at the back in 1 km.
No one checks their lights regularly.
The newer the car model the more prevalent the plague is.

Funny thing is many new cars tell you when a light has blown. Some even tell you which one. When my left indicator blew the car flash a warning in the instrument cluster say left front turn signal blown. Something like that.

People just don't care.

This guy blocks a whole lane as he is too important to wait in line.

Common on SA roads unfortunately  I must pull the footage from when I was leaving the Lonehill Sunninghill area on Rivonia Rd earlier today with all the traffic turning right on to Witkoppen causing chaos.

Edit: I got the suburb wrong.

Fools like this, and those jumping red lights (this is becoming more common every day) should be flogged in public

I am not sure why she sat there until I was right behind her.

Taxi taxi'ing, as they do, traffic was horrendous.

A common sight on busy afternoons after work, Main Rd is almost gridlocked and drivers do as they please.

Similar to the last video except a different location and turning lane, the taxi drivers get upset when I move across their path, shame.

Randomly started watching DashCamOwnerAus on Youtube recently, and they generally have the right idea when it comes to people trying to be pushy, almost nobody lets them in....

They do have some monumentally retarded drivers on their roads as well, but obviously nowhere near the level we do.

Someone had a wee soft bump into my backside on Friday, no damage, just gave her a round of applause and then complained about the baby in the front seat (no child seat or seat belt) this morning a lady smacked into someone else infront of me proper bender, usual case of looking for traffic coming from the right and not in front of her, the constabulary in front of me didn't even stop, also found it odd how the offending lady got out of her car and immediately attended to her fender guard nevermind the enormous damage to the front or the other person.

Its surprising how one can just sit and watch that channel for hours on end.

Might have to zoom in to see this one. Kid standing on the back seat of the corsa. He went straight from the turn lane and pulled of like hell. All with the unrestrained kid on the back seat.

Bad luck that - people can behave like idiots on the best of days

Indeed, for the most part I've learned not to be bothered by idiots doing dumb things probably because they are dumb, its those that aren't dumb that are deliberately doing horrible things that still get to me, like BMW and Audi men barreling down on people and then overtaking on the right using the emergency lane.

On the flip side of the coin, you get people pulling out in front of you and accelerate slo-o-o-o-wly, forcing you to brake and lose your speed. And there's no cars behind you. But lots of oncoming traffic, so no chance of an overtake.

So slowly because they are all driving toy automatics incapable of better acceleration. Or, too lazy to change down. But it still does not justify the BMWs and other large car driver attitude. We do not have minimum speed regs per lane as a general rule on our highways.
