Bad Driving thread

Had a nasty run in with a taxi driver today. He sped up the shoulder lane and cut me off while I was crossing an intersection. I had to slam on breaks. So I hooted and swore at him. He punched my sunroof, tried to cut me off and generally intimidate me. He then caught me at a set of robots. I just kept calm, didn't show any fear and he left me alone. I just don't see it getting any better. These people don't see any issue with such behaviour.

Edit: I think a dashcam will be a good investment.

Are you a female? If so, then you really are not very smart picking a fight with a taxi driver. Not that being a male would necessarily be much better, but at least a male stands a better physical chance should things get physical.

Two lanes going in the same direction, I'm on the right-hand lane...idiot biker stays right in front of me and constantly slows down forcing me to brake!

I guess this has been going on elsewhere, I am riding to work well within the yellow line when all of a sudden a minibus taxi burst through from behind straight into the emergency lane in front of me and overtakes a slower moving truck. What the actual F? Since when have these loonies been overtaking people on the left in the emergency lane?

Seems to be plenty of reports by cyclists about other cyclists being total douche bags and ignoring stops/red lights.

What you mean, A bloke on a Bianchi rolled straight passed me this morning in Lakeside. He just rolled through the red like it wasn't there. Mom with her tot had to brake to save this idiots life and when she hooted he gave her the zap.
When I caught up to him and asked if he thought his behaviour was what he expects other to deliver to him, he gave me the zap and tried to switch me off my bike into traffic coming up behind and then hurled abuse. Clearly not lekker in the head!

I'll remember your face POS

Also one oke this morning in aurora , went to drop my tot at playschool and this kitted out wannabe came flying over the stop street at about 40km/h, with me braking and bags all over the place he just shows me the finger...

The worst for me is ****ers riding on the national road.

After saturdays mountain bike race on my way back on the n1 some douchebag is riding on the N1 on his own past Kraaifontein.

On sunday coming home from my ride in Camps Bay, there was a whole group of cyclists on the N1 all kitted out. Just because you're riding as a team, its still illegal to ride on the N1. The worst thing is I rode with those same guys down Suikerbossie into Camps Bay and then into Greenpoint. I cant remember the name of team but their kit looked similar to the Trek Factory racing kit. It was clearly styled on that.

And then if that's not enough, yesterday while in the UCT Lung Institute building, I saw two ****ers riding down hospital bend on their own. What the actual ****? its douches like these that give cyclists a bad reputation.

As a cyclist that commutes to work daily it really irks me when other cyclist ignore the rules of the road and disobey stops/red lights.

To the 'lady' driving the white Polo Vivo with numberplate HLP 102 EC that used the right turn lane in Newton Street to jump the gap and cut in front of the SBV van because you didn't want to wait in the queue like non-entitled normal human beings:

Being female or male makes no difference. He put my life in danger, those around me and his passengers. I don't care who you are, how big you are or what you drive. Be a dick, and you will hear it. Want to hit me? Then you will suffer the consequences. His bad behaviour was because I am a white female. I won't let people walk over my rights and safety because they could potentially inflict physical harm. Where does one draw the line? It's like saying I am too weak to defend my rights. No one is doing it anyway, so are we all just going to cower away until we can barely navigate our roads? I want to get a dash cam specifically for these instances.

Earlier this week I drove off the highway onto William Nicol. Sitting on the offramp in a long queue, and the taxis decide that the shoulder lane is a new lane to merge which merges into the intersection. We sat for an extra 15 minutes while streams of taxis used the shoulder as a dedicated VIP lane.

Guess the economy contracting is good for the traffic. That is the only saving grace our roads have.

I feel so sorry for those poor people that pay so much money for their cars and then the cars don't even have indicators...

N2 Settlers Way on ramp from Jan Smuts
About 7am

This bitch thinks that she's too special to wait in a queue for the on ramp like us normal folks. Instead she squeezes onto the very on ramp, and sits next to other cars. Someone eventually let her in, and. she then goes on to fidget with her handbag, slowing down traffic at an already terrible intersection.
