So I decided last week to start commuting to work after using the Gautrain from the first day they opened.
But realized that it work me a grand out cheaper every month if I travel with the car.

So needless to say I am not used to the hectic Johburg traffic to Sandton.

I guess we can all be home about a half and hour to an hour earlier if we did not have idiots that cant adhere to the normal traffic rules.

So my question is what do you do to tolerate or entertain yourself when waiting in traffic. In specific when you are in the changing lane and people actually drive past you in the oncoming traffic just to actually try and push in front of you.
By doing that you actually causing the traffic to jam that you are trying to avoid, so in hind sight you are causing the effet you try to avoid.

Personally I just close the gap completely so they cant get in just out of principle that you will wait even it is just my car.

But I also know this is a trend that is picking up and wont be eradicate any time soon but only get worse

Can you explain what you mean a little more please? Like, you are turning right, and someone turns right from the lane that goes straight instead?

This is what I do. If I'm in a queue to turn right, I keep the gap between me and the next car as small as possible. First reason is that I can get going across the robot quicker, second reason is to prevent people pushing in (which unfortunately a lot of people trt).

If I'm on the road and moving, not in a queue, and someone tries to cut in. Like, let's say you are taking the left fork, and someone speeds in the right fork before cutting into the left fork in order to go left.

I *try* to drive at my own place and just let them cut in. Reason being, its not worth the rise in my blood pressure to get worked up about it. Sometimes I speed up to prevent them cutting in, which I should not do and feel guilty about. But I'm trying to be more accepting of bad behaviour on the roads - unfortunately it is so common, if you get angry about every screw up, you will have a heart attack in 2 days! Not that I am perfect, but I am trying to be more chilled on the roads.

You are correct, so lets say there is two lanes, one is going straight and the other one is just a left turn lane, the people will actually make the straight lane a turning lane and push in as much as possible in the current turning lane resulting in you that need to now sit extra longer in the turning lane because some snowflake reckons its not worth his time to sit in the traffic like the idiot you are that is now stuck in this lane. If the straight lane is now also backed up you will get the extra special type that will actually go in the on coming traffic to make lane three now to turn.

To the driver in the white Golf 6 GTI (BR 21 TM GP), your impatience on the roads is really unnecessary and rather dangerous. Hooting at me to change lanes (which would've caused a head on) is not going to make me go any faster if it is unsafe to do so!

Funny, I had a white Golf 6 GTI (BR 81 FF GP) do almost exactly the same to me down Cape Road yesterday afternoon. He eventually shifted down what sounded like 17 gears and screamed past me on the left hand turning lane so that he could get in front of me. Bear in mind I was doing around 65 - 70 kph indicated in a 60 kph zone.

It would appear the best way to piss off most German car drivers is to drive at the speed limit

Yoh. I'll be on that road tomorrow...

Is there somewhere to report/post dashcam videos like this?

What cam are you using?

I mailed customer service via the Checkers website. Other than the auto-reply there has been nothing further.

I've often mailed other companies with dashcam footage and I would say the majority have been appreciative of their drivers being reported.

Cam is: Mini 0806

Driving to work this morning there is a part where the left lane joins into the right. I'm happy to let others in but this guy in a Fortuner decides without an indicator to merge into my lane prematurely, obviously I need to break but I shrug it off. We then stop at a robot with 3 right turning lanes. I was in the middle lane and he was in the right lane. Once the robot goes green, while turning and without indicating again he ends up in the middle lane. Now irritated by him thinking he is the only driver on the road I give a short hoot to which he slams on breaks. Now I do something questionable and zap him.

He starts raging and trying all kinds of Hollywood type moves to get me off the road, putting other cars in danger too. He keeps signaling for me to pull over so we can right I assume (pointing to the side and then pointing at his fist). When I have to turn and he has to go straight he shows a sign that I assume means I'm going to pay.

I'm not sure why he wants me to pay when his driving was putting others at risk of accidents from the start.

Tuesday last week, about 7pm, N12 east going past Kraft road. I'm in the 2nd lane from the right, there's a car about 50m in front of me, both doing 120.
Another car overtakes me quite slowly, with a brand new merc about 30cm from his bumper, flashing lights like mad.
The guy obviously doesn't move over quick enough for the entitled PoS, so this guy zips in front of me, accelerates up the arse of the guy in front of me, slams on brakes and swerves back into the right hand lane.
Collecting the other car just in front of the front wheel.
I don't know HOW the guy in the slower car kept control, but he did... Merc then puts foot and disappears, but to my surprise, the guy who's been hit just carries on driving. WTF? I was waiting for him to stop so I could give him contact details as a witness but he didn't...
Unfortunately I was in my wife's car so I couldn't catch the twat in the merc to get his details...

wtf. I don't understand people.

I can only guess that the merc was hijacked or stolen or something. Who deliberately drives their brand new car into another car? There's no way insurance is paying for it - hit and run, etc.

Not really bad driving but bad walking/running.

So I'm on a Rural road on Saturday doing the speed limit (80) and notice for some reason there is a guy standing in the middle of the oncoming lane (no cars in the lane, just this guy standing there).
I keep driving, slow down a bit to around 70 as I get closer to him and drive a little closer to the edge of the road so that I am further away from him.
I get around 15 meters away from him and he decides it's time to bolt over the road, infront of me.
I swerved into the oncoming lane, missed him by around 4cm and then just put foot. No idea what his plan was or who else may have been waiting in the tall grass.
If I had hit him, car would have been badly damaged and he would have been meat.
Chilling moment.

A guy jumped in front of my brother while we were driving a few years ago... The guy had to be airlifted and a few weeks later we found out his aunt worked for the Road Accident Fund. The accident could have been completely avoided by the pedestrian.

Audi A4 and a minibus taxi both think that they are too good for a turning lane and made their own one adjacent. Oh, and thanks for cutting the bakkie in front of me off, causing me to be stuck in the middle of the intersection when the traffic lights for the cars ahead of me went green again. F**king knobjockeys

So apparently speed limits in residential areas near schools don't apply to the lady in the white Opel Mokka HTH 323 EC that just sped past me like a bat out of hell and gave me a dirty look while doing it.

I'm sorry to hear that your speedo cluster is evidently underreading by a large margin and even more sorry for your poor car that you ramped over the speedbump I was slowing down for :D
