Bad Driving thread

There was this guy too. HZC 153 EC. Notice the solid double barrier line

In hindsight he could have just waited another 5 seconds for the road marking to indicate that he was allowed to overtake but Mr Polo Vivo was too much in a hurry it seems

The passenger appears to be quite unhappy as well (holding on the dear life and probably pumping that the imaginary brake pedal hard as well).

Indeed! These 55kW 1.4 motors are capable of accelerating the one-ton Vivo to g-forces only known to RAF fighter pilots, astronauts and skydivers (and the gold paint instantly adds another 9000Nm of torque)

Don't laugh, if the passenger is used to a Datsun Go, a Polo Vivo is indeed a space shuttle!

:D That's not quite what I meant which was that the passenger was probably subconsciously holding on to the handle thing in the hopes that it would somehow make the dangerous and illegal overtaking manoeuvre more survivable.

Not sure what's worse, the polo overtaking on a double solid line or you driving with your phone in your hand taking photos of this.

Well, he did it for a good reason, so we could have the photos here. Sometimes the end justifies the means.

To sum up the last few posts: throwing stones at one's own glass house :p

Well in that case we want better photos, hang out of the window, chase the other car and drive as close as possible.

There's that: only a partial number plate was captured :D

Full disclosure: yes, I was taking pictures while driving when I posted the above two posts. It isn't a fact I will be hiding nor proud of, but if I am called out for this then so be it.

I'm pretty sure 90% of us have, at one stage, used our phones while driving. Whether just checking the time or taking it out of our trousers to place it into a cubbyhole or binnacle inside the car, using a phone while driving is classed all the same. Does this excuse my behaviour? Absolutely not. But if people are going to be hypocritical about it then I feel it may not be a fair argument from my side.

Whether people admit it or not is another case altogether, but I for one have no issue with being called out by ChocolateBadger, genetic, TMan and RedViking - you all caught me in the act ;)

All I ask is that you too provide full disclosure whether or not you have done the same, be it once maybe a few years ago or on a weekly or daily basis - for fairness, of course :)

All the time. Although my phone is now attached to a car phone mount with Bluetooth calling. But still requires me to press a button or two.

^The honesty is appreciated.

I hope I am not coming across as accusatory in my tone, I was simply willing to put my cards on the table if others did the same :)
