Bad Driving thread

So there is ongoing road works on the R44 just outside Stellenbosch and while I am sure lots of bad driving happens on the road, some of it happens off the road by the construction crew.

Two weeks ago they knocked over one of the trees next to the road and it fell across the dirt road. Everyone using this dirt road just walked around the tree, but eventually on Thursday I got fed up and after a lot of effort I pulled the tree out of the road and into the section next to the tar road which the construction vehicles use, kind of an F U to them.

Now the tree is dead. As in D E D - ded! But look at what these Einsteins did as an F U back to me...

Did you notice that sudden level changes, without any warning? It's like they are ripping up the same piece of road many times over. Arseholes.

They don't seem to work in a very planned manner, but I like how they close lanes just for me to ride in
Too bad they kill trees.

How Do You Know When Someone Is A Bad Driver?

As drivers, though we sit in our own private spaces in our own private cars, we actually spend our time sharing the road with other drivers.

Drivers who aren’t the best at driving. I’m not talking about using the damn cell phone while behind the wheel, either.

I’m talking behaviours that you can spot from metres away and instantly make you go, “Oh, that person is a terrible driver.”

What tips you off immediately when you see it?

I’ll even take it a step further and ask if you notice a person you’re riding with driving badly, how do you bring it up to them?

People seem to get very protective and defensive about their driving. I’m so curious.

The comments section makes for interesting reading, especially the on-going debates about the HEADLIGHTS ON and HAZARDS OFF in rainy weather scenario.

Scenario:

I'm sitting at an intersection with a traffic light filter arrow for me to turn across the flow of traffic to the right. The light turns amber, then red, and my green filter arrow illuminates. This white Jetta with no numberplates decides that instead of stopping at the red light in front of me in the oncoming lane, he will just cruise on through the red light, all whilst flashing his lights at me - like I'm the one that doesn't have right of way and is impeding his progress?

Arrogant d00s

Don't even know where to start, from idiots sitting at 30km/h under the limit next to each other on a double lane road blocking traffic, to morons floating between lanes without indicating, as in not one or two cars, but quite a few, to those jumping red lights. Eish.

Taxis turning decades after the robot is red.

Me, already half way the crossing.

It’s a pity that he saw me though, I still have a knock on my bumper that I’d love to see repaired under the insurance.

Psomething GP

Kaki Land Rover Discovery 2

Driving from the KFC on Jan Smuts until Hyde Park on two lanes going erratically from left to right and back (ie clearly drunk).

I sincerely doubt the guy made it home without a scratch.

This guy, speeding on the highway, almost rammed me off the road today... Forget the 80 sticker on the truck - he was doing at least 130

This dewis in the Schiti Golf is parked on the loading bay causing the cash in transit van to stop in the left lane forcing everyone to use the right lane with is only for turning right. (Voortrekker Road, Malmesbury)

Not bad driving but guys, what is up with people randomly braking in the "fast lane" I almost rear ended someone today on my morning commute to the office. After overtaking her on the left I noticed she was on her phone.

Heading from home from Woodmead to Sandton CBD using Bowling Ave/Katherine St. From the intersection of Malboro Dr & Bowling, a lady in a silver Kia Cerato Koup was sitting on her phone from that intersection till Katherine St.

I was in the right lane and she moved over to the left, undertook me and then decided to come over into my lane. I hooted at her (she was quite close) and she went back in her lane, mind you STILL ON HER PHONE, I now speed up and want to get in front of her because she's insane and she again comes into my lane with our doors next to each other. Blasted my hooter at her and I honestly saw her roll her eyes and say oh gosh fine, and put her phone down.

these people who think their phones are more important, we know who is going to die/meet in a car accident first.

I hope this lady got a shock and will think twice again about touching her phone. The sheer ignorance.

Almost hit two Dis-Chem delivery bikes in Norwood.

They were chatting to each other while driving and decided to brake suddenly and turn without indicating.

Small men, little totties and shizzy cars.

Why do they think they are traffic cops?
Get a life and stay in the left lane.
Accept that some people do go faster than 40 km/h.
I suppose idiots abound we just have to accept Darwin never had time to organise an appointment.
Rant over.
