Bad Driving thread

Often the fastest lane if the left hand lane.

The other people who irritate me: the ones who trundle along at 30-40kph in suburban areas, and cruise though stops and red lights at the same speed.

If not on the highway I will wait somewhat patiently behind a right lane hogger and then simply use the left lane to overtake and be on my way, sometimes they are wanting to turn and fail to indicate so I give them some time. On the highway I will flash at the fast lane hogger, give them time to move over and if not, then I will use the middle or left lane to overtake them and be on my way. In both cases, I try my best to see if they are being blocked or can't move over for some reason but it isn't always possible, so I try and be as patient as possible. It has been a while since I threw a bitch fit about it, it is simply not worth it anymore.
More less my approach, but there are those who take offense at being flashed.

Oh and to the people with green number plates/animal number plates, please drive normally when you come to Gauteng, don't suddenly become Learner drivers.

Can you really blame them? They see more cars here in 5min span than they've seen al year in small town/village.

Not making excuses for them, they usually just adjusting to more than 2 lanes. :P

Fair enough, they must just steer clear of the fast lane.

A ponytailed East Rander in a gold Golf 1 decided to do a quick u-turn on a busy road, he did it from the opposite traffic and joined my direction. After executing it I thought he would stop outside the road but he kept driving ahead of faster traffic and I had to slow down.

THIS!

It absolutely F'ing grates me! 99% of the time, they will go into the open (usually right hand) lane at the traffic light and leave everyone to blast past, or they idle through every red light and Stop street without even touching the brakes... if you're in such a hurry to not stop, WTaF can they not drive at least the speed limit

My pet peeve is people who pootle along on the highway onramp, and only speed up when they're actually on the highway.

And what pops my top is when they decide they have to stop there and then because traffic is coming too fast and they need to wait for a gap in the traffic.

The biggest unexplained mystery of the 21 Century..

Why is it that almost exclusively Hilux and Fortuner Drivers don't use their indicators? Less so than the usual, and expectant culprit, the BMW Driver.

Must be an electrical problem maybe? Design flaw? Because surely the number one selling Bakkie and SUV in SA cannot exclusively be driven by Knuckle dragging reprobates? Are they busy pleasuring themselves? Are they picking their noses? Texting while driving?

I've even driven a new shape Hilux, it's a really nice bakkie, the indicator lever is not out of reach for me as an average person, has the whole 1 touch - 3 flash feature, isn't unstable enough to warrant 2 hands on the wheel at all times, Bluetooth even on cheap versions and Indicator stalk on the right...

I just don't get it... You just flick a finger and flick the lever, so simple.

I have serious issue that i need advice on.I know that driver licence never expires. But what if someone never applied for a card version of it more than 25years ago.Can one get a card version without going through the entire process.
Asking on behalf of a friend.

Nope. You have to go through the whole process.

The time to convert I think expired back in 2002/ 2003

How has he not needed to ever produce the card?

another problem has also come to light, this person went to traffic department and there is no record of his license now.MUst he take this up with the court and make a case against government...lol.
Wut?

He had his chance for converting his licence back then when the switchover was announced.

Lawyers will laugh at him, and will not take his case on.

He will need to apply for a learners and do it from there onwards.

Was he in a coma between 1998 -2003?
Because the conversion deadline was all over the media at the time- IIRC it was extended by a few months as well.
so no he needs to apply to do her Learners and once he passes that apply to do his drivers licence again.

How in the holy hell as he not had to produce a license in the last 7+ years

I think I can remember something that they extended the deadline by a few months.

edit : can you imagine the chaos had they decided to do the switchover post-COVID? :D :D :D :D
