Baldur's Gate 3

It looks really impressive, watched the gameplay reveal now. Just shows that the game style is still mechanically sound and I like the improvements they made. Larian have thrown a lot into this what they have learned through developing and maintaining Divinity.

Damn... this will probably be another pre-order though I would love to see a collectors edition as Black Isle had with the original games. I want a lore book

The problem is that I want to play dos now

I'll just call it dos3
I really dislike the ending of DOS though. Man, I played so hard with a 2 man party to get to the end with a spellcaster as my main, used all my spells, and then had to fight each other I had nothing. Really Larian, why you do me like this? I bought DOS for a friend, he played 30min and said it's not for him. Derp! :=)

Looks like a baldurs gate mod in dos2
Oh so someone caught onto this

Mechanics apart, and it was probably so (the tilesets, icons, etc) for the gameplay demo at pax, I wonder if it is going to change and if so how much of it. I kinda agree that this might feel like another DOS having BGx being lost in translation.

Of course, I don't mind dos, in fact, I like dos and the studio very much. I'm still very curious to see where they take the IP, but only if they include the weirsheep :whistling:

WoOS wtf. haha. o_O

You see, Larian developed their own in-house game engine. A engine they themselves evolve. The thing is, all these games made by Larian with their own Divinity Engine will have a lot in common. Textures and used mechanics are what will essentially put games apart developed by them, the rest is the lore and the story, hence IP, which make the title unique.

I see many people are pushed about the real-time-pause being taken out as Larian wants to keep the game true to the rule set. It will be turn based. Funny to see the polls online. The 'general' gamer want real-time with pause and the D&D gamers want turn-based. The last time I checked a poll it was ~50:50.

Larian have a good track record, Baldur's Gate 3 is going to be good.

My only concern is the flexibility of the divinity engine and object and surface manipulation. In DOS to some degree it starts requiring a degree in the engines mechanics and a huge amount of creativity to feel confident in battle and have it not feel like luck and chaos.

Sometimes I just want to click on the baddies and watch the fighting animations and see if my stats best their stats.

I hope they tone down the environmental and situational complexity compared to DOS, but seems like they adding even more variables.

That for me is the biggest risk of it not feeling like a "Baldurs Gate" game. Story, rules, exploration, tone, lore, loot, companions etc I have zero worries.

I'm not worried, I'm ready to play DOS3 ;):whistling::p

Now I've ****ed myself:

I started a playthrough of DOS2 while I'm still playing Dark Souls 1.

Might as well just set life to permanent away from world. haha.

Try pillars of eternity or pathfinder kingmaker; they are both really good "my stats beat your stats".

PoE is a lot more forgiving than Pathfinder for completing the main questline. I see there are still people bitching about the time constraint of Pathfinder.

I didn't finish it because after many hours I got a game-breaking bug that stopped my mage from casting spells.
Up until the bug it was some of the most enjoyable RPG'ing I had in recent years.

It's been out a long time so the bugs should have been fixed. Have you played Stoneshard? When I saw it I thought it looked absolutely terrible. Played for a bit and it was ridiculously good. 2 years before the full release though :/

No, I haven't played Stoneshard. In regard to Dungeons & Dragons, I am hoping to see another The Temple of Elemental Evil in the series. Not to mention that Troika made another underrated game which was Arcanum. Both these games deserve another title.

I have been dying for day to continuity in the original form of Ultima, to this day I still replay the series.

Bet you many a teenager (including teenage me) would've liked to have that Pluck-and-Port feature when you were
getting down to business and your mom comes into the room without knocking.
