Baldur's Gate 3

Is early access (and thus the upgrade) available on PS5? I've already bought it on PC, but SO wants to get it on PS5, but not sure if this would be available on there.
If you mean the 72 hours headstart you get for buying either digital deluxe or collectors editions, then yes.
If you mean the early access that has lasted for the last 3 years, then no. That was only steam & gog.

Take note Larian have reneged on the 72hour headstart for pc players who ordered the digital deluxe or CE.

Some other devs seem to be running scared of bg3 possibly causing higher standards to be expected.

Not quite sure that's reneging. The 72 hour head start was based on the original release date. Moving the whole release up a month more than makes up for it, imo. Not that I particularly care about those head-start early access thing anyway.

No release date was ever mentioned as part of the offer so disagree.
Also it's not like Larian moved the date out of the goodness of their hearts.
They got petrified of clashing with starfield so moved the version they could and didn't give one though that they now won't be able to honour their agreement.

If starfield were to remove the 5 day early access they over and move their game earlier, the reaction would be very different due to the dislike people have for MS.

As usual our continent is ignored but launch is same time as Gent for us. So 5 pm, hopefully the steam servers don't crash.

What are the thoughts around playing an origin character (incl. The Dark Urge)? I'll probably just do a normal custom character.

I usually play sorc/wizard, so going to do something different this time around.

Maybe a Dragonborn Warlock or bard or something.

Half-Orc monk for me because... it's just a bit ridiculous and that is awesome.

Second play through... Dark Urge barbarian Drow that gives in to the urges.

Always create my own character.

Custom character for first playthrough for me. Rogue-assasin. Undecided on race between elf/human & half-elf. Have to see how the last minute changes concerning the races make a difference compared to es & 5e .

Will do a dark urge and/or origin on other playthroughs.

There was a graph shared that showed majority of players play Human Male Fighter.

I thought that was hilarious. The devs also complained because they put so much effort into the exotic stuff, but most people just go with "adventure man" build lol.

Mental olympcis? Imagine paying just for the head start and then it get's taken away.

Final community update before launch. Sadly no preloading, game is 122gb download.

Yeah I think it has to do with Steam's rules around early access games. You have to maintain access to the early access game until launch, so you can't switch it off to allow preloading.

That should be fun. Drow should get double the dark urge, cos they're evil anyway. :p

Should be cool - the more sophisticated terrain should make for some very interesting shenanigans.

Paying *just* for the head start? What?

And yes, it is "mental olympics" to pretend a 3 day head start is more than a month earlier.
It's about principle. But if you are going to make a "debate" of this don't expect further responses than this one. I'll kiss it:

  1. Sells the product with head start
  2. Person buys the product for the head start
  3. Company removes the headstart*

Clearly they've sold it under the pretense of giving you certain things; not honoring it, for whatever reason is just bad practice.

*they've moved it (release date) to benefit them, not you or us. So I guess you are one of those persons who also negate on their promises and not bat an eye lid? noted.
