Baldur's Gate 3

Only watched half of this cause I didn't want spoilers as am only in Act 2, but it was really good!

I fired it up after 3 months of not playing (Cyberpunk), I had no cooking clue what I was doing or what I needed to do. Still in Act 1, seems they jammed packed Act 1 full of stuff

I played all the original wizards of the sword cost games (ie. original Baldur's Gate I,II, Icewind Dale, etc.)
Got a PC updated just to play this game again.

I looked over all the work they put into marketing this game, adding features to make hardcore DnD players happy, constant updates, etc.
Really hope this studio is able to keep this going.

They are really putting a LOT of work into their titles and a significant number of other AAA titles are putting in much less work and making more money.
Leading me to think, if you looked at this purely from a profit point of view, their "strategy" (Larian), to studio execs probably looks like too much effort.
it is truly demotivating to me.

Maybe I'm overthinking it. But I've been on the earth long enough now to see creative work get killed in favor of reality TV and garbage like that, to know for profit studios like to cater to the lowest common denominator. It pays better. And then all you can hope for, is for the good run to last as long as it can.

Is that not also DnD? Seems like they moving away from DnD altogether.

Can't say I'm not disappointment, would have loved some BG3 DLC. But will support them regardless.
I don't think so, but I am not an expert on Dnd

Game was not worth the hype. Wait till it is on special before you buy it.

Wrong thread for that comment + not friday.
You still drunk from yesterday?
No I played it and I thought it sucks. It is grind heavy and just a time burner. Progression is slow.

Progression is perfect.
In DnD games with its few levels, progression is slower and more meaningful, unlike your Diablo type ARPGs where progression is frequent and individual levels are pretty meaningless.

I don't know I just didn't like it. I was Hype to buy it, try it with a smile on my face. Then 1 hour became 6 hours and 9 hours became the next day, the next day became the weekend and now I regret playing it because it just didn't feel like a fun game to me. Sure you can play and it if it is fun for you then money well spend. For me it wasn't fun.

You need some elden ring then.
I am back on D3. It is not the best but it is fun. When I play a game I want to have fun. If you like BG3 then enjoy it. I am saying it is not for everyone. I don't like D4 I don't like BG3 I don't like elden ring

Fair enough,ARPG people want the flash and dazzle and speed of PoE/D4/Last Epoch,so a turn-based doesn't hit the spot. Narrative/story classic RPG people would find it more favourable

>plays tens of hours of a game
>claims afterward the game isn't actually fun

Doesn't quite line up, eh...

Yeah, I get it, different people enjoy different games.
Gameplay in D3 just felt meaningless to me. It's like one of those AFK hero mobile games, except you have to be at your PC to manually move your character to the next mob so you can see all the big numbers pop up and kill everything in the fastest time. In fact, I rate Diablo 1 as better than D3, because it's slower and your sword doesn't make your spells do more damage... but I digress.

For me the fun is in the struggle, planning and execution, cause and effect.

The guy in the video is an idiot though.

Not voicing two sides to every coin is the most horrible thing one can do. Everyone loves this game, It is why I spend money on it in the first place. Everyone told me I would enjoy it. I just didn't and its true D3 and BG3 is not the same thing. But to judge people and say "if you don't like this game then something must be wrong with you" is nonsense. There is a lot to like about this game but its also fair to say it is not for everyone.

I played it, figured it wasn't for me but I had this unrealistic expectation of "it will blow your mind" and it just didn't deliver on the hype. I am not saying I agree with everything on the YouTube video. But he made a few points I do agree with. The point is, keep expectations realistic and the game will not disappoint. But people made it the be all and end all and that was just not what this game is. Its a good game it will become one of the greatest ever of that I am 100% sure. But it is not the be all and end all. I just figured I add this here so that other readers can get another perspective before spending almost R1k on a game they may not like.
