View everything in MATRIX mode. instead of looking at a webpage view the source.... After a while it is as clear as day light. Do you think that is air you are breathing?

Haha man thats funny :D

Doesn't it disturb anyone else that we are supposed to have "broadband", and we're all sitting here trying to find ways to conserve bandwidth.

We should be trying to find ways to use up all the bandwidth in the world!

Man I hate Telkom!!!!!

At about R70 per gig it is now cheaper again to rent a DVD rather than downloading one. So, to save bandwith, rent a movie today.

Other badwith saving ideas:
1) In stead of purchasing books from kalahari, loot, etc. visit your local CNA.
2) In stead of using online banking, go visit your local branch...
3) In stead of plaing online games, dust off the old monopoly, scrabble, or chess set.
4) etc.

On a slightly more serious note:
1) Get rid of spyware regurlarly
2) Use peer-to-peer only for stuff you really want. I know a lot of people who are just downloading for the sake of downloading.
3) HTTP browsing and online gaming will not easily get you to 3Gb. (=100Mb per day)

Maybe - if you got only one computer, and you the only one to use it for a couple of hours a day... but add a LAN and siblings with internet access and clocking up 200Mb per day is quite normal

x) 3GB/s approximates to about a ration of 100MB/day so ..
If you using win xp use that SASU utility thingy and combined with xp task manager you can see how much you are using per day. for just surfing etc i think it would come to about 50 - 100MB per user depending on amount of content per site. I don't like switching of the router so just unhook the lan cable if its a single pc at night if you do not trust/unsure of the software on the pc.

xx) Turn off windows update and start manually doing updates thereby allowing you to choose which are worthwhile doing.

Cancell your ADSL and tell telkom to go Fu$k themselves, this is so pathetic of Telkom..

Get something like Bandwidth Monitor pro..

You can check your usage without that HUGE email from Telcrap or insane waste of bandwidth(checking via Browser) and it also allows you to set accounting limits such as max 100MB per day.

You could also skype using morse code instead of actually speaking into the mic, and learn to type shorthand on IRC and forums :o

tht jst m 2 cnts ;)

Use a proxy server like someone said (Squid for Linux) is good. And you get to learn Linux too!

(available for Windows too)

I'll be experimenting with bandwidth usage techniques (compared to what I'm used to)... as Iburst have just announced that they are doubling their caps! Pretty cool hey, and removing all port shaping as of next month, for free! hahaha sorry just hads to gloat cause i was feeling so happy, hope this is true though.. it looks like it is, and a helpdesk employee confirmed it so it looks like iburst knows how to run broadband hey?

But for you guys that wanna save bandwidth.. well just download less, unfortuanately youre gonna have to get used to it becuase none of these tips (except the "stop downloading porn" one) is gonna help you much further that 20-50 mb or so... gonna have to wait for positive changes from telkom

Slowkom special: ShareLife500. Get 500mb per month for only R900, yes why not share 1gig between you and your neigbour...conserve bandwith,

Why not post a letter or get morse code back, its not capped afterall...or is it.

oh if telkom controlled morse code it would be capped, belive me....
Only 40 dots and dashes both sent and recieved a month or sumthin fukin ridiculous, glad i'm on Iburst now!

Stop being abusers - 1gb should be plenty for anyone. Telkom knows whats best for us. Believe in the telkom . . .

No, man....they're just going to quote that out of context now. ;P

I still say: 'Any one here seen the movie 'Fight Club'? Yes? Ok, here's what we do...'

Peeps

Al these tips and boohoo wont help. Best way is to cancel your DSL. Thats what I am gonna do.

Telkom dont deserve a cent seeing they use infrastructured that was paid for by the old regime and its tax payers, have a total monopoly on setting package rules and control pricing in a supposed "free market", have a nice Communications Bill protecting their actions they do(like the hard capping and line rental, and and) and of course the they love to promote business by enbabling communications LOLOLOL

Peeps, cancel the **** and go to gym, movies, the beach, family and friends and play LAN games. Review the way you shag your lass and aim for groupies. Take up combat training and get get the country back to the way it shoud be.

Why we indulge this crap?

he?

Why?
