Apologies if this question is too obvious. I've read the above a few times and can't figure this - With 3G/EDGE (that's all data right?) turned off how do you get your emails if you are not near wifi?

39 minutes of usage, down to 92% after playing Angry Birds. Games obviously need a **** load of battery. lately it seems my phone sucks battery like crazy, I dunno what's going on.

Double tap the home button, and the apps that are open in the background will appear at the bottom. Tap and hold 1 of them and they will all start to wiggle, with a red "no entry" sign at the top left of each icon. Tap the no entry sign to close down that app completely.

The apps are not running all the time, unless you've asked them to, like the timer or alarm clock etc. The double click of the button just shows the last used apps. When you 'close' one, the rest pop along in order of prior use. You would spend all your time closing them all if you did that! When you exit an app it just pauses it (usually).
