I run ADSL192 with VoIP and it runs perfectly. Headset / VoIP makes all the difference, you don't end up going "Enemy boat spotted" in the middle of city!

Don't stress about clans just yet, first get into the game.

It's more important to join a squad when you're in the game. Check out the forum/bf2 nics thread, and look out for us online. Most peeps are friendly and helpful, don't be afraid to ask if you don't know something. If you team kill, apologise, and if you get team killed think long and hard before you punish.

best tips thus far :

1. when you drive a jeep, hoot... and hoot a lot!
2. before you run across a road, look left and right, rinse and repeat. :D
3. watchout for friendly grenades if you rush the enemy, they love you.
4. skulls mean death.
5. remember to press N to zoom your radar or else it all looks like a xmas tree.
6. avoid staying on one control point for too long, artillery loves sitting targets.

thats all i can recall for now... :p

Artillery

Yea - when a flag is neutralised [white] - you have about 5 seconds to get the heck outta there before the whole dang place is artillaried. Sometimes you just have to risk it - like when there's a tank sitting outside just waiting for you - or when 2 flags are neutralised at the "same" time.

If you're in an artillery storm, watch for a nearby explosion, and after it's blown - run into it's spot - lightning does not hit the same spot twice - well - not always. Standing around and watching the carnage will get you killed, but if you jump as you are bombarded, you can get yourself blown about 2 km's into the air - really cool. But you're still dead.

Remain calm and plot your revenge. :p

I miss that about 1942 - if you opened your parachute you could survive an explosion like that. :)

that just gave me an idea.. how about we all try to meet on the tallest building of the map and jump off with parachutes... and have a lonely squad member take a snapshot of us in the air?

Hmmm, then maybe not ;)

I'd say I'd rather get two school bus choppers and dump everyone over an enemy base/ aircraft carrier, let them take the picture of an aerial assault. Two "s"'s . . .

Yea - me woz running XFire, actually - it's still installed - just don't use it.
It stopped being able to launch directly into the game on the right server after 1.03, so I never used it again. The in-game server browzing is easy enough to use.

mmm.. dunno... cant access link now.. does it track a lot of games like Xfire?

Yeah, it tracks quite alot of games.

The only "bad" thing about game monitor, is that it's a few minutes behind real-time.

So if you only see say, 2 slots available on a server, by the time you actually get in-game, those slots may be gone.

The nice thing is, that if I type |WrG| in the player search box, it will show me what servers the clan members are on. ;)

oh well.. i will stick to it coz its easier to peep into the BF2 servers and check if you guys are online without running BF2 before hand... and i can join servers straight through Xfire after it asks for the login credentials...

Just checked out Game monitor - no way, what's with the SGS "Stunt Server" ?

Sounds like my kind of server . . .

Speaking of which I as one little thing of the SGS admins. Please recycle the flipping maps! Every night I log into the servers at 10pm and I get either Fushe then Sharqi, or Dragon Valley then Sharqi. On a good day I might get a Karkand. :(

My player stats reckon I've played Sharqi almost 50% more than any other map!
