Battlefield 2

Listening through R40 headset, you don't really notice things such as "crispness". H*ll, you barely notice things like "gunfire" ;)
 
can you suggest a good pair of head sets with good stereo i can never make out where the sound is coming from

Yeah ahven't heard that one but on the APC the turret sounds similar to one of those US buggies. I keep swinging my turret around violently to find the buggy. Damnit.

@ Doobiwan: I find it a bit pointless leading a two man squad. 3's sort of the starting point. When your voice is back you can yell at me and make me say Suh, Yessuh all the time hehehe.

How do you go about booking the SAIX servers? Last night 10 people (out of 32) seemed to have the .28 server to themselves.

Perhaps SGS need to increase the number of slots on the 20 and 31 servers upwards. It doesn't necessairly need to go to 64 - how about 54?

You can only book if you're in a clan [last night was VC]. Booking is down on the SGS forums [http://games.saix.net]

They actually did upgrade to 54 but there was awful lag [according to some players.

Seriously - I woz also quite grrrrr for about 5 minutes - all servers full and 9-12 people on a locked 32 man server ... sucks.

So far as I know - only clan leaders can book a server, and they book the server for clan matches and clan practises. Expect a lot more of these.

/me wonders what happened to the gamesdomain servers, went on the prowl for them last night and all I found was one BF1942 +BFVietnam server. Sigh.

Me got 4 unlocks last night - got 2 left, confused I r, but - no rush ...

To all - thanks for the info on booking.

Is the purchase of a server the answer? Because if it is a R100 once off donation will sort that out pdq. I thought it was more an issue relating to i/o at SGS. In which case I suggest reviewing the consumption on other games (CS, Joint Ops etc.) and perhaps cutting back a little there (if they are not as popular) and giving a little here.

Oh - try 54, or 52.

And hopefully, you can only book a server Monday to Thursday or peeps are going to start camping. I have found a few lost soles lying in bunkers doing nothing. It seemed a shame to pop them.
 
stoke, i tried connecting to mweb server but they still running 1.02 server

didnt allow me to connect because i had newer version. DOH

how do we get these people to patch their server already?!?!?
 
I am sure most of you know not to drive over mines, or walk past claymores that have been planted by teamies. They show up. But we have the collection of brainsurgeons who ignore the warnings and get themselves killed - and then TK punish.

Okay - you've cost our team a ticket, you've wasted one of my claymores, and you punished me.

I have a solution - find the turkey and pop him one in the head with the sniper pistol. It's nice and quiet and doesn't kill. Not that the brain was being used for anything anyway. Now mommy's dearest can go and find a med pack while the rest of us can get down to the serious business of being shot by the opposition.

And while ranting, those turkeys who hang around spawn points shooting the ground, and occassionally each other, what is the point? Is the game that boring? Rather log off because there are other people wanting to join the server to play.

Point harvesting is now taking another turn. Hang around the spawn sites and pop the guy as he materialises. That's not cool. <spits apple>

Doesn't that give you team damage tho?
I'd love to go smack the PTKers upside the head.
 
If you let the enemy into your camp - u're going to be bushwacked - simple.
Then the heated battel to get rid of the enemy ensues - it's not a reason to moan, and you should help the squad leader to get away from the spawn point so that you can sneak in from behind and free your team ...

I must say that I crapped myself last night when an APC suddenly backed up and I could not get out of the way in time ... but it hit me and nothing happened - YEA - Good on you EA !

Also - I ran over an enemy jeep with an APC and the jeep was well and truly flattened, with one bar damage to me. Much more realistic. :)

Gamezone and the Update to 1.03 ... Dunno ... There isn't even a BF2 section in their forum. :(
P.S. Where did u get that server's address from ? Or - what r it called ?
 
Heh, I like ramming things with an APC, I find it tends to do quite a bit of damage.
No point in hanging back and shooting, might as well get up close and personal. ;)

It does but the way I see it, it hasn't cost the team a ticket, the turkey isn't dead so he can't punish me, and it was quiet so it just happened so it wasn't me who did it ;o) (unless he was looking). Only downside is that I have slightly weakened the team - but he was being a turkey. Darwinism for the good of the species and all that.

If I am stupid - sure PTK me. But if it was you suck it in.

I've had a perfect line on an APC with the anti-tank launcher. Hit fire. Had a teamie leap in front of the missile and lose his head. And the PTK me. Okay, he wasn't being stupid, just unlucky. But he didn't need to PTK me. I admit that sometimes I've shot first and asked questions later and haven't been PTK'd for that (thanks) so maybe it does work out in the wash.
 
When I first started playing, I PTK'd a couple of times, mainly because I got the PGUP and PGDN keys confused. (up = yes, dwn = no, logical right? So, do you wish to punish -- no - pgdn GAH! Fckit!) I got it right eventually :p
These days I very rarely punish - even if a teamie stands right in front of me and deliberately shoots me. Twice in a row. Like OB_Phoenix did to me on Zatar Wetlands the other night. Dunno wtf his problem was. *shrug*

Not complaining about enemy taking down base - aim of the game. Am complaining about peeps who sit with guns on exact spawn point (There are several around a flag) who aren't taking down the flag - just the players as they spawn.

Sort of the APC in the boat bay of the Aircraft Carrier and gunships hovering overhead deal. USMC just become points fodder.
 
i had the gamezone ip last night, found on this forum after searching a bit... but i have the "SAME VERSION" flag on when i search for servers in BF2. so it doesnt pick up when i search for "Gamezone" or "MWEB", but will prolly when they get the patch up. can we phone them to remind them maybe?

i think it shows something about SGS's involvment in the community. they had the patch up the following day, giving the peeps one day chance to update their clients. anyhow, see you guys tonight, on the battlefield, in your undies. bring the lube, i'm lus for kicking some butt.
