So uh... How the F@*k do I install the game from disc? Everytime I open Origin it just says "Ready to Download" I'm sorry but EA are really pissing me off with this Origin crap now. It is complete rubbish.

I'm getting worried hearing the installation problems like the slow install or the downloading rather than DVD install. Will see tonight ...

Please post fixes here if you find solutions.
 
ALL THOSE GETTING SLOW DOWNLOAD SPEEDS FROM A RETAIL DISK TRY THIS:
(Origin is supposed to pick up the data from the disc but sometimes gets confused and starts downloading from the web by mistake.)

Here's the simple fix to instaling bf3 YOU NEED TO BE ONLINE!

1. open orgin but make sure your game is added to library

2. insert Disk 1 then run the setup exe (NOTICE ORGIN MUST BE OPEN FOR THIS TO WORK)

3. when the popup appears click* the install box orgin will start to say Preparing then - Instaling Information - check the pause button it must say INSTALLING INFORMATION you will hear your drive reading the disk also have your second disk ready as when it hits 5GB it will ask for disk 2 (Above Where it would say normally downloading) This means it's installing from Disk IF IT SAYS DOWNLOADING YOU DID IT WRONG!

Keep in mind! after you finish installing disk 2 the game will download a 400MB patch this is normal let it finish and your ready to go!


OR THIS:

- Delete the web download in Origin


- Exit Origin
- Restart installation from the disc
and Origin found the disc and downloaded data from it rather than the net. Much faster!

(addendum, if your game is "downloading" click on the "X" in Origin's "My Games" to delete it. Then exit Origin (right click on Origin in the Windows task bar at the bottom right of the screen) and run setup.exe from the disc from Windows Explorer.)

I spoke to a very friendly and understanding Karla.

She promised me that I will get my copy today, will prob only be later tonight. Which is fine, it's waaaaay better than Monday. I'm still a bit let down because I had to kick up one hell of a fuss, but I'm sure it's all worth it.

Is anyone else's origin a beta release.
I'm not to sure if I've got the latest release, and I can't find an update button for origin.
 
So apparently I live in a "rural area", only getting my pre-order on Monday. Exams starting Wednesday, so wanted to play this weekend before studying. Real sad. Atleast I'll have a chance to do good in the exams :P
 
So ended up installing it over again. Said it was downloading at 8.8mb/s (which obviously isn't true as I don't have a 90mb connection) I know it was downloading from the internet though as the light on my DVD rom wasn't flashing and the disc wasn't spinning inside the dvd rom.

So paused the download, unplugged my internet cable, resumed it and the disc started spinning inside the dvd rom, light flashing etc. Currently sitting at 80% installed.

What a flipping effort though. Now I know why this is the first original game I've bought in nearly 2 years. Developers bitch and complain about how piracy is killing them, but they're shooting themselves in the foot by making it such a flipping mission just to install a game, let alone still play it.

nah no problems during activation / installation , took like 8 minutes ? busy doing the updates now also on 384 line :>

4.34% done

i got beta and bc2 next to my bf3 le . really strange bugs in origin. sorry mate :>
 
Don't know how people can put faith in Takealot and the likes to get a game to your doorstep the same day it launches. Not going to happen I'm afraid not here. T.I.A people T.I.A!!!!!!
