Battlefield 5 (2018)

Hi, think I might know what your problem is. I run 1080ti, at this moment getting about 110-140 frames in the game, i used to only get 75 FPS.

If you enable DX12 with Future frame rendering off, you will get boosted frames. If your DX12 is disable, enable FFR then it boost it as well. Please note that FFR enable does give you input lag, so I advise to enable DX12 instead. The only issue with this function, it cause your CPU usage to run about 80%+, only Ryzen CPU's run at very low cpu usage.

If that didn't work, then I guess it is time to upgrade!

Thanks man, will give this a try

So I got in for a tiny bit of BF5 last night. (don't think I even got through the whole rotation of maps)
I really like the maps too, they are surprisingly big compared to maps in BF4 and BF3 (almost like old BF2 days)

Overall their game menu needs tweaks, and there are some things that annoy me (don't vault the fscking rock just jump on it).

But the shooting feels good, the time to kill is great and even starting as late as I did, I never felt like the people who have been playing longer actually had an advantage over me.

But my absolute favourite part of the game is the headshot dink noise.
I landed a nice 2 tap on a running target last night (gewehr stock sights) that kill made the entire map for me :D

Will definitely sneak back in tonight and go shoot some peeps... I did find the weapon perk upgrades when I quit (lmao?). Do they have a massive impact on the way the guns feel?

My squad chat mic however doesn't work at all (voip is turned on), is there a place to set the default mic used for the game?

Meh. Last few months the Battlefield 1 local servers were desolate - couldn't get any local games. Skipping BFV. Just not worth the investment. It has become a hassle to find nice games, even on international servers (ping a problem). I think it is time for Battlefield to go the P2P multiplayer route. But it forms part of their revenue, so won't happen.

Barely a few weeks and it is already 50% off in some areas. lol.
Just wait a few more weeks and you can get it for next to nothing.

Slap in the face for anyone who paid full price.

Its not desolate. They broke the filtering a few patches ago. How I go about findings games now is: Type AFRICA in the text filter, then toggle a few options under the number of players filter, and sort the games list by most players. Then as you toggle the playercount-filters, the populated servers will appaer. However mostly there is just 1 conquest and 1 dom/tdm avaiable, sometimes a rush as well. Keep toggling!

I remember with BF4 ( or 3 ) I used to do something similar to find the right servers, otherwise I was presented a whole load of servers with terrible pings, wrong country and generally not what I was looking for.

His experience is the opposite to mine in so many ways ...
There are problems in parts of the game but overall it is a fun game, the classes have their weapon choices that move towards forcing game balance.
Not a good review, just really a shouty bitch session.

Sidenote : bitching sessions are popular with over a million views

I disagree. Looked like a fair review to me and it echoed the sentiments found all over the various online gaming communities. BF V is not selling well and has not generally been well received from what I can tell.

Also, his name is Angry Joe. Being shouty is part of his gig.

At one point in the review he states how he wishes it was a redone version of previous WW2 battlefield, and he does keep alluding to this during his review.
BFV is different, in the same wasy BF1, BF4, BF3, BF vietnam etc were all different, they each added new features, changed how mechanics worked and tweaked things ... Anyone who expected this game to be the same as previous BF games is missing something important.
For example he grumps about never playing last stand, a sudden death round that comes about when there is effectively a tie in Grand operations. It is rare and should be, it is quick and brutal and fun ... Yes I have played last stand.
He moans about medics only have smg's, a common bitch. The point most people miss is medics are meant to be close support, they shouldnot have ranged weapons otherwise they will simply hang back not play their role, so the smg only is a result of previous experience. I play medic I dont mind the smg's.
He also mentioned that how does a medics fast revive make any difference when anyone can revive a squadmate, that fast revive makes all the difference, as a medic I can revive in and move in no time, with a squadmate you cannot take the risk and more often you will have to leave a teammate because squad revive out in the open takes to long.
Moaning about TTK, he has a gewehr 43 probably against an player with an auto rifle and at that range a good player will win against the gewehr, that said TTK is a bit of a bitch but not for the reasons he gones on about.

But I like the game and am really enjoying it so I am going to see it all in a more positive light ... so yay for me

But he and his fellow reviewers never said they wanted the same BF game as those that have gone before. What they wanted was the core Battlefield experience to be maintained. High-quality maps, intense fun, mechanics not getting between the player and the game, fair weapon upgrades, a plethora of game modes, a release that feels finished etc.

All your nitpicks above are a tiny portion of the criticisms for BF V. I must say that I find the reasons provided by the various BF communities for their rage at EA and DICE to be compelling. The game doesn't seem to be finished and the current dev cycle is ridiculous and may destroy the franchise's reputation for quality. I think that's the only real fundamental problem with BF V - the developer is no longer being given the time needed to produce top quality BF games.

One of the times he mentions he wants a remastered game ...

Honestly I could go through every point mentioned and say where I agree and why I might disagree, however that seems like a bit particular, however I could be.
So I was not nitpicking simply picking topics that are quick to address, I am simply correcting points of his opinion that may lack substance, that are fair to be made.

I have put in a number of hours into the game and have experienced pretty much every error that I could on PC, I have played all classes and vehicles ... and I do not feel that the mechanics get in the way. The interesting bit is the mechanics that do not work for some are the mechanics that a lot of people really love.

I do agree, a 5 man squad I would prefer, no auto lock of squads would be nice ( it autolocks if you create with a friend ). The vehicle copula machine gunner does not always rotate with you and you cannot hide, so that guys does not last long, Dice has mentioned they will be putting in a duck feature.
There a number of little annoyances in the game and again I can go through the list if you would like me to, but it has not broken then game for me, and I am always finding full servers and having to wait for a space to open and almost every game mode ... generally I go for grand operations or frontlines, conquest if I want to get a quick game in.

I am not sure about the claim that the BF game timeframes are being made to short and looking at release dates for the previous 4 BF games
BFV - 9 November 2018 (2 year gap)
BF1 - 21 October 2016 (3 year gap)
((BF Hardline - 17 March 2015))
BF4 - 29 October 2013 (2 year gap)
BF3 - 25 October 2011 (2 year gap)
((BF Bad Company 2 - March 2, 2010 ))
BF 1943 - 8 July 2009

By this list the cycle period is about right with only BF1 having a longer Dev time to release than the others. All these versions of BF have used the Frostbite engine so that reduces that learning curve, obviously there is more to it than time, perhaps the game got less funding or hit a dev hiccup but overall this seems on par. I am not engrossed into it all enough to have read up on why people feel that EA/Dice are not getting the quality right, but in all fairness when has anyone ever said EA was doing something right. EA may well be doing the usually naughty things but I cannot say.

BF4 is still my favourite of the current series, however this is currently cruising for a comfortable 2nd for me.
The game mechanics and weapons layout gets people to play their class and generally people get upset because they cannot play a class outside of its purpose.
Why would you need a medic to have a ranged weapon, unless you liked the older ranged weapons medics had. However the only use the medic layout would have is to then heal the single player while they play at range.
People dislike support having the KE7, a well rounded support rifle that is generally a decent all rounder, not great in close combat but capable, decent at range and mediocre(at best) at long range while only having 25 rounds.
I have seen players do far better with assault kits over greater ranges, but the point is still there that traditional assault players do not like assault having this much flexiblity. Support class has had a really big jump in flexiblity, where it can no cover a range of roles in the support scope, while assault has become more pigeon holed as a tougher fighter with tank killing capabilities and close and ranged weapons.
I did have a debate with someone on the support role, while playing, the guy argued medics needed longer ranged guns as they need them, all the while he was playing exclusively sniper. At the time I was swapping between support and medic as the squad need dictated.

Upsides are squad revives, ammo and medic stations. The fortifications feature is also quite a nice new feature, it is not amazing, but your can now get to build new features into the game map to hide behind and fight around.
Almost all Buildings can be totally destroyed, and that means all that is leaft is the foundation. I remember playing on Arras and getting to the town centre and finding nowhere to hide since it had been bombed to nothing but this open space ... now sandbags become a viable option.
No more 3D spotting, except by recon and if a unit has been heavily suppressed. Upside no more following a person behind a wall and sniping them on the otherside, you can now hide in bushes or in an attic and no opponent will know. This makes escape an option aswell as ambushes.
I see people moaning far less about being sniped or the bitching about wallhack, this can only be a good thing. 3D spotting was always a doubled edged sword.
Explosives now have a greater variance on explosve radius, so an anti tank grenade is a very small radius of splash damage and pretty much a waste of time against infantry however it will do high amaounts of dmage on vehicles ... in the right spot.

But if you like the game do play, if however you not enjoying the game give it a miss.

The only way to give BFV a trial run is to subscribe to origin basic, it will give you 10 hours play time. Do remember unsubscribe of course.

This is simply my impressions and opinion, and I feel there is a lot going for this game more than against. Personal mileage will vary.
PS: If I missed a particular point you were making let me know and I will try my best to give a even reply on that particular point

Is there any talk of making a Hardcore mode?

So the game is on special for 50% off until Jan 11th. Guys who are playing - are the servers full, is it popular in SA? Worth it at R500?

Servers are usually full when I play at night. Maybe 6 or 7 servers.

I am enjoying it a lot. Still some bugs, but they will be ironed out in the coming months

Eventually picked this up and it's good fun, much better than when I played the beta. Took a while to get into it but finally doing OK. Mostly playing on 140 odd ping servers as SA has little operations, which is my favourite mode.

10 min left of download and then hit with loadshedding. Damn. Will give it a go but not the biggest BR fan.
