BBM for Android and iPhone: how it will work

I downloaded the leaked bbm which doesn't work yet I'm concerned that it's not going to be as efficient as far as multi tasking goes with whatsapp.

Ag thats rubbish its not a proper social messenger platform,it just makes sms'ing between iphones cheaper.Lacks universal appeal since not everyone you know has an iphone unless you only communicate with the iflock which fortunately i dont do! :D

Not sure what feature it needs, but SMS like behaviour is exactly what I use it for. But you are right, everyone I know has iPhones except for the one person that uses BB still :)

That why you hanging out alone there..... x2 ! :D

I lol'd

Why can we all just agree that its good to have competition and choice. We have to go where our friends and family is, does not matter weather its.
BBM, iMessage, whatsapp, viber, ChatOn, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, QQ , Mixit, Skype, Gtalk, Google Hangouts, Lync, FaceTime ,Pidgin ,MSN , Yahoo Messenger , SMS , MMS
Choose one and get on with it

Yep imessage is an sms replacement, while BBM is a social network especially when groups are thrown into the mix.

Try BBM when it comes out on Sunday its actually quite nice to be connected and keep up with friends but if you only know 1 person that uses BBM it maybe a bit boring.Lol try convincing your other fellow iphone users to try it out,in fact most of them will probably be using it to bridge the divide with their BBM people so just ask your fellow iflock for their pins comes Sunday.Or if reports are true then just add them using their cellphone numbers/email addresses.

I must admit, I prefer the new Google Hangouts to Whatsapp. Only reason I have Whatsapp is for the poor people I know that don't have any droid love.

It's a shame the PC version of the Hangouts app is horrible. Also, only work-people is on it (in my case).

If only WhatsApp were to release a PC version and allow multiple logins - then it would be my ultimate solution.

So your parents have iphones but you haven't bought your sister one?

Shame on you!

wechat can do this.

So can Google Hangouts, Skype, Viber and Facebook IM. Hell even Mxit had a desktop client at some point. The problem is EVERYBODY is using WhatsApp!

me and the wife started using facebook messenger a lot these days, IM's went through much faster than with Whatsapp. Pity you dont get a dedicated FB messenger for WP8 though, dont know if Iphone has one. Only saw it on BB and Android. But yeah really nice talking to the wife within facebook or using the facebook messenger app for windows.

The only reason I dont use google hangouts is because it does not show you who is online/offline.

It does, if the persons profile picture is dark & blurry then they are offline...it took me a while to figure this out. Google needs to take it back to the old format when there was a green icon for online, yellow for away, red for don't disturb and no icon for offline

Wow never really knew that, I might update to Hangouts now just to check it out. Thanks for that.

Yeah, it is a terrible system. It especially irks me that I sometimes don't get notifications on my desktop (Using Google Hangouts plugin in Chrome) - yet I always get the notifications on my iPhone. :)

I think this happens because Google pushes the message to the last device you used Hangouts with. To get messages on your desktop just reply to the person using Chrome, that's the trick I used
