Becoming Healthy Again

That is good news.

Biltong Tip:
When at home or if you have a fridge at work that you can put unsalted butter in. (Seeing as Biltong is your snack of choice and it has a pretty high protein content. Making the rest of your meals harder to balance.) Try cutting small sticks of unsalted butter and slapping that ontop of a slice of Biltong. It should allow you to reduce the amount of biltong you eat by half hopefully, while simultaneously upping your fat intake. Making the scales easier to balance in your other meals. Also tastes pretty dam good.

I just bought a juicer. (Philips HR1855) off Kalahari.

I just made a test juice with 4x apples and 2x lemons (made about 700ml juice) and it tastes great.

Anyone got any healthy juicing recipes? I'd like to add one juice a day to my diet for all the vitamins / nutrients my modern diet is missing.

Maybe try and reduce the sugar content a bit.

Not sure how well they'll juice, but bananas and cantaloupes make for a good baseline taste wise for smoothies at least. Similar sugar issue though.

Else swiss chard, spinach and kale are popular for "green" juices...just gotta watch the oxalic acid content on those.

Kinda true I guess. But that is just adding unnecessary complication to the issue. Like eating 2L of Ice cream per night is essentially falling off the wagon for every eating lifestyle. But that is not necessarily the fault of the initial lifestyle that drove you to it, rather it is the fault of you picking up 2L of ice cream each night.

Falling off the wagon is implied to mean that you were on an eating lifestyle that was pretty unsustainable. In this case calorie deficit diets. This can be an eating lifestyle where falling off the wagon applies, because you are actively trying each day to accomplish your goals. Fighting against your hunger.

If you find an eating lifestyle that does not require your active effort to sustain, then falling off the wagon does not apply.

Try http://www.youngandraw.com/ - they also have the apps with shopping lists. If you follow a 30-day smoothie diet you will drop about 2-4kg, but some of the stuff is really rough (I can't handle chilantro/coriander any more).

Bumping up this thread to remind ourselves to take it easy over the next couple of weeks.

Time of the year when most of the weight and guilt gets piled on.

Happy holidays

Will post a proper update and changes tomorrow

So initially I tried to cut out all carbs and only live on meat.

Now let me back track a bit. For many years always had issues with my stomach, bloat and cramps to the extreme. When I cut out carbs it seemed to have vanished.

Sadly I went through a very bad time and sure enough I went back to my old unhealthy ways. After struggling again with my health I decided 3 weeks ago enough is enough!

This time I have cutout sugar, pasta, bread, potatoes, rice etc. No beer only Whiskey

I'm eating healthier balanced meals with salads and meat. Already been 3 weeks and felling a hell of a lot better. Stomach cleared up completely.

Oil and frying in a pan?
What kind of oil?
Bacon can cook in its own fat, so no oil needed. Eggs can be made in a microwave with no oil and still taste good :)
Cutting out fried oil can do wonders for weight loss

Due to a lack of carbs I still consume some fat in order to keep my digestive system in tact
