Bed Recommendations For Side Sleepers

Hello my BB folks. I am in the market for a new bed, and would love to have an update from the people that have purchased a Sloom mattress.

The prices they are asking is a significant wad of cash, and I am keen for some feedback. I cannot find any negative reports about the Sloom customer service, and only one who said the product didn't work for them.

Cloud Nine may have been an excellent brand at one time, but now their reputation for customer service is properly dismal. One look at their segment on HelloPeter and I'm running for the hills.

Any feedback on the Sloom, or Meelu, or similar product would be really appreciated. TIA.

So, we've had ours for almost 8 months now, and we are still super happy with it. I was afraid we might start seeing dents by now (especially on my husbands side, because he is heavier than me), as we haven't turned it or anything since we've had it, but there is nothing, still great. I turned it anyway now, just incase it helps prevent dents. My lower back has been so much happier in the mornings, I don't wake up with pain anymore.

We were really lucky to have found a second hand one that was hardly used.

You do know people go on Hello Peter to complain and rarely to post compliments right?

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Just out of interest I had a look on FB Marketplace for secndhand Sloom beds, and there are absolutely none. This for me is another good sign.

Um, yeah. A company's inability to address and remedy unhappy customers is all I am interested in to be honest. Anyway, the positive replies are usually "paid for" and submitted by their PR company.

Isn't that why anyone goes onto HelloPeter?

I salute your brand loyalty, but it appears that while Cloud Nine was once upon a time a company making very good products, they seem to have lost their way recently. It happens.

Even so, it is a good indication (The number of complaints) of customer service and product quality of a company.

Many people use Hello Peter as a last resort

They have to pay to reply and probably (rightfully so) figured the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Not only mine. They got great reviews here as well not to mention being recommended by CASA as well... https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/cloud-nine-mattress-any-good.1096228/

We returned our Sloom. We wanted something firmer than firm, but not hard.

After our 90 days, I asked for a refund, and they asked if we would be willing to try adding another extra firm layer as the base layer to firm it up. It was a lot better, but now too firm for my wife's liking.
So, around day 120 (I assumed I get another 30 days to try the new layers) I emailed them and asked for a refund.
I got packing instructions the Friday, sent the packing proof (photos) on Monday, collection on Tuesday, CC refund processed on Wednesday.

Great customer service imo.

Sjoe, now that is incredible, it's not often you hear stories like that. Thanks Barbarian Conan for letting me/us know.

The mattress is split and you can have different firmness on each side or am I missing something?

If you don't need the customizability, look at driftaway. Bought 2 from them years back when they were just foamfactory, back then, no other mattresses were foam only, still have both of them, ordered another 2 recently, top quality, don't sag after years of use and price is very decent.

Correct.
Both of us wanted it firmer than just putting the firm blue layer on top. I was reasonably happy with adding another extra-firm layer, even though it was a bit hard. It was good enough for me to keep. I am quite a bit heavier than my wife, so I could dent it a bit and it improved for me after a couple of weeks.
My wife however still woke up with a sore back, as she did with all other configurations, and we decided we rather want something that we were 100% happy with.

Edit: Sloom is miles and miles better than the complete dogshit bed that is Dynamic Comfosleep or whatever it is that we have reverted back to while continuing our search.
In fact, I would choose the Dynamic Comfosleep for Zuma's cell just to make sure his life is as bad as it could possibly be.

I cant comment on Sloom as a company, but those matrasses are all the same thing really.
I have a Simba, had it for around 3 years now and its still absolutely awesome. Im pretty sure my next one will also be a "bed-in-a-box" style, they are just so comfy.

I like Serta (pillow top) and then Simmons (individual pocket spring) The advantage with the latter if you move around a lot, you wont disturb your partner.

Foam mattresses dont last, unless you are a small kid, or unless its in a spare room.
Simmons is best, followed by Serta (we had our Serta for about 12 years now, and still works without any dents etc.

Yep I was also thinking something to that effect must be the case.
Who is the cheapest?

I’m also looking at a new bed. Was looking at either the sloom or cloud nine. Never tried them before. Can they be used with any base or does it need its own base? My wife and I need to buy a base and headboard set.

I will never buy a Serta again.
Bought our Serta ( top of the range - King ) 7 years ago.
The first 4 years were fine but after that pure hell on my & wife's backs.
My side also sagged and I'm not overweight.

Upgraded to Sloom (King) about a year ago and never slept better.

@Looney - can be used with any "solid base". We are still using our Serta base.

Can anyone comment on the Sealy Skyline Extra Firm?

also, what bed sizes do you all prefer? Any regrets for opting/not opting for extra length, king, quuen etc.?

Anyone have any updated recommendations for a decent mattress, something on the cheaper side of things?

What properties actually make up a good mattress?
It’s such a crooked business, it’s impossible to price check anything, even if it’s the same brand they make unique names for each retailer and they all use the same useless jargon when describing any and all mattresses.

I really like the idea of Sloom - that you can arrange the layers inside to adjust the hardness. Never tried one but they seem cool.
