Yes one of the reasons I like cloud nine is that it’s got a plush feel, but after you sink in a few centimetres you definitely feel that there’s a very firm layer underneath that won’t sag after a couple of years. Of course I don’t know much about foam but that’s the impression I get. There’s also the warranty. One thing I’ve been reading is that if you’re having back issues like I’m having, you likely need a firmer bed. That said, I’m about 65kg so I can probably get away with a medium-firm one.
But yea I’ll definitely take some for a test ride, just don’t want to find a “comfy” one that I’m replacing in 4 years like my current one.
I’ll try Cloud Nine, Sealy and Restonic I guess, those all seem to be good brands.

Make some changes if your health is at stake. Back pain gets a lot more expensive later on.
What I mean is don't go cheap if you can then just as well keep what you have now.
And if you want to keep it from turning chronic, get a good bedI’m not going cheap. If I was going cheap I’d grab a R3k POS from the nearest store.
My health isn’t at stake, I don’t have chronic back issues, but I do have an acute issue right now and the bed is only exacerbating the issue, hence the upgrade.
You won't go wrong with a Sloom.I'm in the market for a new bed.
My current one is a piece of crap and I'm struggling with back pain - not all from the bed, but a lot of it I'm sure.
Need recommendations on brands and/or models as well as any other general tips.
Looking at a queen and budget is no more than R8k, though less is better.
Que? Have my Lodestar since yonks and it goes for R8k https://www.thebedcentre.co.za/product/cloud-nine-lodestar-firm-mattress/Why do you limit you budget so much on something you going to spend the next 15-20 years and use half of your life.
Yep, can second the bed shop...Seriously, Go try The Bed Shop. Locally made beds that are really really good. We absolutely love our bed from there. There are lots of combinations of coil foam tops materials you can choose. Its proper world class beds.
I used to only buy Serta or Sealy, the bed shop is way way better and cheeper.
Some bed stores have a “sleep lab” with a bed you lie on top of and it will measure where the pressure points of your favoured sleeping position are and they’ll give you a printout and recommendations based on that. That's nonsense, it depends on how your back is being shaped that's causing the pain. I wasted money on a firm bed only for it to get worse.
Before buying a bed, you should rather first go see an orthopedist. Get some scans done and have them advise you based on how your spine is shaped and what bed will help you correct it.
A bed is crucial to good health and you don't want to guess or skimp on a good one. You also don't necessarily want to go on other recommendations, as they may not be the right match for you. Based on the doctors recommendation, you need to go test them in store...
I considered these but how much support can a bed that fits in a box provide? You won't go wrong with a Sloom.
I had no issues with it so far , way better then spring type mattress. You also get a 30 night trial.I considered these but how much support can a bed that fits in a box provide?
You might not, but that doesn't apply to everyone. Each person has a unique requirement...I had no issues with it so far , way better then spring type mattress. You also get a 30 night trial.
Correct hence the 30 night trail. You might not, but that doesn't apply to everyone. Each person has a unique requirement...
