BEE

As a black man reading this thread. I don't see anything changing between white and black people!

Maybe that's how it's meant to be. IMO!

^^ jeez they should take those degrees away - the videos are terrible. lol

Says someone with nothing :-)

Typical...

Oh and an award for the video and over 1.5 Mil views strongly disagrees with you... but I will leave this space blank for your witty comeback

We need some balance in this argument. I understand some of you never voted for the Nats ( I did not and was an anti government - national) my whole life. The fact is that by your parents benefiting, getting jobs, better education etc. only because they were white, you benefited by being brought up with the fruits of same. I know it does not sound fair but the playing fields have to be leveled a bit. I do believe the sooner we do this the sooner we can banish EE/AA. Also not all EE and AA stories are failures. I know of many individual and corporate cases where they have been massive successes. I acknowledge there are some failures/disasters but you have to look at all the outcomes, not just point a finger at an Escom and generalise.

Thats cool, thats great. Let the income earners have a level playing field. Nevermind that 100% functioning businesses could much better contribute to the money that would go to uplifting (the majority) the poor. But thats cool as long as at least 10% of this country benefits - to hell with the other 90%, they're poor anyway they'll die soon.

Grrr... no foresight! IT IS EXACTLY LIKE EVERY OTHER GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE. Can't see the future outcome as long as the here and now is satisfied. Typical of this continent. No big picture.

You obviously do not get it...I never have to swallow it. I am leaving this country so you can take you AA/BEE and do with it what you like. ;)
Oh yeah? You're not leaving the country, you're trying to.Funny thing is i can leave tomorrow, you can't...productive member of the superior race.

When all the productive people have left all that will be left is an empty shell just look up north at any country in Africa.
With an attitude like that, you are never gonna be part of the solution anyway...so please do us all that favour.

Same as you during the Apartheid era. The only way trolls like me are going to make is through these ventures, 'cause a White man will always see me as incompetent and unable to run a business.

How much benefit of a doubt have you given to your black colleagues/ employees? Racist slurs out the way, state facts.

On the contrary, I know of many competent black people at university. And I acknowledge that. I also know that there are many black people who for example are getting 0% - 20% for subjects (I looked through the list which I have on my PC, and couldn't see any white surnames) ... and the question begs, how many of those people were pushed through to the next year hoping they would do better just to try keep the white/black ratio needed. Basically what I am getting down to is the fact that there are many competent black people, but they are getting mixed with many incompetent black people, and then when the time comes to employ them, the employers hire the incompetent ones time and time again and come to the conclusion that all black people are incompetent ... and this is all due to BEE.
Lucky for me I'm at university with black students, so I know who the competent ones are (Or the ones that are my friends anyway), and they are the ones I would be happy to partner with.

If the system was just opened up and everyone put on equal grounds, I believe it would sort itself out ... that is the law of economics ... the markets always even out. Compare supply and demand to black and white .... Supply and Demand always even each other out unless there is price collusion ... now black and white would even each other white except for apartheid / BEE ... Stop collusion, supply and demand even out again, Stop Apartheid (Done) / BEE (Not Done) and black & white will even out.

I hope you understand what I am saying ... I'm in a rush, so haven't worded it well.

No ... I believe blacks and whites should be equal IMO. I view my black friends at RAU equally to my white friends. The only differences are they like RAP and RnB, and I like Rock :p ... they are starting to learn to like rock though ;)

Marine1, just tell your dad to convert to a sole proprietorship. Its more risky from a legal perspective...but I want to see the mampara who tunes him he needs a black partner in a sole proprietorship.

ETA: Haven't read all 8 pages...soz if I missed something.

it has been just over a decade the non whites in this country have enjoyed the rights whites had for centuries in sa . the fruits of an oppressive system was benefitted from through generations. just because you were not an advocate for apartheid does not mean you or your family didnt benefit from it.
compare your 10 + years of "oppression" to 300+ years of generations suffering... i suppose you've been through hell, not.
unfortunately correcting the imbalances is difficult, but remember the playing field is not level as long as there are living people who are still feeling the effects of apartheid.
my 2c

forgive me for adding the 300 years my family was oppressed as slaves in the service of the ancestors of the creators of a system that only got a name 46 years ago

Everyone who got their education post-94 should not even qualify for BEE positions, only the people who lived through apartheid should be the beneficiaries. Might sound harsh but most people are just looking for freebies.

if you matriculated in 1995 from a education system that clearly was not corrected in 1 year ,how can you disregard them? they went throuh the same inadequate system from the previous year. these things take time

Mate please, you do not have a clue what i have and what i have achieved so dont jump to conclusions

Oh really...

Practice what you preach then... you said they should take mine away...

Clearly you live in double standards land...

Perhaps ... but surely the people matriculating after 2007 (1995 = Grade 1) should be excluded.

BEE in theory is great and all, but in practive, its not so. I still see informal settlements popping up all over the place ... and there are still many poor people ... please tell me how BEE is helping them when they can't afford education, are not skilled enough to get jobs etc. What's more important then BEE is the government should be providing free education (Perhaps they are and I'm unaware of it). Also ... I'm sick of seeing able beggers on the streets ... I only give money to beggers who are disabled, or too old. Same applies to white beggers ... These guys could do something to earn money ... I see black people sitting outside builders warehouse with signs such as painter, tiler, etc ... I applaud them for wanting to earn a decent salary. I even give money to the beggers who hold the packets to throw away your trash and who clean the streets at the intersection ... at least they are doing something, albeit something small ... but as far as I'm concerned ... I'm doing more for them by donating money then the government or its BEE policies are.

@Rendier and Luf ... come on guys, give us a virtual shake of hands here :p ... we aren't here to dis each other ... we all want the same thing, equality ... this is a debate about BEE ... not who's degree is worth more ... I'm sure you're both excellent at what you do.

^^LOL yip true dont want to fight any one. Peace..
sorry mate, didnt mean to offend, i take back what i said.

@ eita - i agree the single most important thing in uplifting the poor is education ,but one cannot have 1 vechile only to rectify the magnitude of the problem

That may be true ... but government is pushing BEE way too hard, and education is lagging way behind. It should be the other way around, or at least in equal balance. At the moment the main benefitor's of BEE are the rich ... the saying goes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I wonder if people in informal settlements even know what BEE / AA is :?

When did I get so wise :D
