Below cost ADSL

don't worry nothing worthwhile is going to happen soon

I wonder what the chances are that these ISPs are getting bandwidth from Neotel? Or maybe they know something we don't? Immenent price drop on the way?

Let's hope. :)

If this is so, they are milking us until such time Neotel launches their consumer services. Not good.

SAOL recently launched their own DSL 384 offering with 1 GB of unshaped blended bandwidth, a free router and 20 GB of local bandwidth for R 138.00 per month. The price of R 138.00 holds for the first 12 months of a 24 month contract after which subscribers will pay R189 for the remainder of the term.
Average price of R163.50 > R152, sorry that is not below cost author.

PROBLEM with 1 price ADSL is that you are locked in to that ISP unless you move your line again.

Average price of R163.50 > R152, sorry that is not below cost author.
Hi Wyzak

The R 152 is ONLY ADSL access without any Bandwidth. Their offer is the Total cost for which Telkom charges R 199.

Aren't Nashua / SAOL using the new cable connection? SAT or whatever... I can't remember it now...

The new cable is not in as yet, Nashua backhaul via Verizon Business using the Sat3

Not with 20 gigs local... I doubt it is... I would guess it's IS.... being unshaped.

Nashua Uses Verizon Business Unshaped service but I see that SOAL puts up their pricing after 12 months and it's a 24 month contract.

Nashua is 12 months only

Hmm choices now! :)

But I have to admit I am very reluctant to sign contracts and the Nashua 12 months was my absolute limit! Also Nashua is giving a Billion 7300G wifi router. I see with SAOL it is wired ("Wireless router available (R450 once off)").

The 20Gb local is appealing though.... needing to purchase local separate from another provided with Nashua.

I have found the idea of having the two separate appealing though as I can use RouteSentry, with SAOL I would not be able to.

EDIT : Also just saw this on the SAOL website.... "A setup fee (once off payment) of R275 is required"... do not annoy me with hidden costs!

Doesn't anyone think that R499 for 15GB unshaped (and R59/GB unshaped thereafter ) is really good? Especially with the modem and a fixed IP. That includes the line too, actually this is really good.

Aah, R1500 setup cost plus a Cisco router which probably blocks P2P?

Still not bad..
