Best Adsl Option

Hey y'all,

I currently have a cybersmart 3gb 384kbps account and was wondering if someone could recommend a comparatively better option...
Not sure how worried I am about shaping, but i do share large design files with friends and well lets face it, on some accounts with some isp's it just doesn't work so well, even in the early morning.

So any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Upgrade your line to 4 MB/s with one telephone call to 10219 (If you are using large design files, you cannot be using a 384 line, it's madness!)

If you are running a small business from home consider the following:

1. Telkom Closer Options for unlimited monthly telephone calls.
2. Obtain a VoIP enabled router
3. Sign up for a VoIP number (R 0.99 / min)
4. Choose your ISP @lantic or MWEB; as these two suppliers are the only reliable uncapped ISP's currently.
5. Obtain your own domain (incl. website & email addresses) for R 10.00 or R 9.00 per month. Do not use an ISP's email address; as you will experience issues when you least can afford it.

Do your sums and you should be set.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah no, a 4mb line would be awesome!
Unfortunately so far it's been a matter of price, hence cybersmarts R125 3gb option. I usually use up about 14gb's a month. but thats sort of limited by my budget. I'm not so much running a business as much as co-developing some things with some friends.

So I suppose the line speed isn't really that important to me, but I really would like to benefit from the uncapped options. I'm not a fan of the big comercial isp's, been bitten a couple of times by them. I was looking into imagine and they seem pretty good.

But I would like some more input in general especially concerning stability and reliability before I decide who to go with.

...not the way to go - read the forums - IS is having problems and it seems set to continue until their backhaul access increases substantially.

Cybersmart 384/3G = R 259
MWEB 384/Uncapped = R 349 (+R90)
@lantic 384/Uncapped = R 339 (+R80)

What is R 90 extra a month - 3 packet of sigarettes?

Yeah i've been following the forums, seem to be some happy some not so happy and no reliability in between so far, so I guess I'll wait another month and hope they get it sorted. It will be nice not to have to worry about getting capped anymore
