Anybody, I'm looking for recommendations for a very very good reliable brand "Android TV box" in South Africa between R700 and R1500 that has to connect via Wi-Fi and access Google Drive & YouTube.

You don't have many options. It's between the MiBox, Ematic and Mediabox Maverick. Any of those three will do the job. Note that the MiBox doesn't have ethernet, although if you have decent WiFi it shouldn't be much of an issue.

The Mi comes in a stick option too, but IIRC that doesn't do 4k.

Edit: I see there is now also a MiTV stick 4k

The new one does. Comes with 4k, av1 and it supports Dolby. Awesome stick.

The Nology Ematic AGT-419 is still available @ +/- R 1299, but there is also the new replacement model, the Netogy Nova @ +/- R 1499 as well - the AGT-419 has an Optical Audio Out port, but the Nova has dropped this feature.

But it’s added extra features over the Ematic :

Processor that’s many years newer
Supports AV1 codec
16GB flash storage
Android TV 11

That's why I also added in the links to the details / specifications for both models - so that there's a reference guide available to do a hardware / software & feature comparison of both models, so one can decide whether lower pricing (+/- R 200 less for the AGT-419) or newer technology (the Nova) is the deciding criteria... :whistling:

The Nova also seems to have more buttons on the remote, like a Mute button, Settings and Bookmark button which might sway some opinions

Had the MiTV stick 4K for two weeks now. Been working flawlessly. Will recommend. Was R899.
Yeah I got the 4k stick in my lounge cause it has DV and Atmos, the Nova is in the family lounge as it's only hdr10 and normal Dolby and the family dont mind that.

I have the nova and maverick. Both very good, no issues for me with either.

Everyone sure the brands they suggested can run Google Drive? I'm going to the shop now to buy the Xiaomi MiBox.

For Google Drive, you will need to investigate File Explorer's that can connect to and mount a Google Drive.

Any of the suggested devices will be the same as far as Google Drive is concerned.
