Best Android TV Box brand?

Hi all, currently have a mi box but it struggles to stream bigger 4k files from my nas, do3s anyone have suggestions of something? It works well for the most of the streaming it's just a little dated and sluggish. It handles a 4k hdr movie that's like 25gb but the bigger ones it struggles with and is slow with all of them

Are you happy with your purchase? I am looking at upgrading from the old MiBox. Also strongly considering the Apple TV 4k (due my existing Apple eco-system).
 
Iv heard the shield doesn’t support lots of apps in South Africa? The mi box when streaming from Nas actuality did better than the Apple TV 4K, but It’s not workin, power keeps blinking on and off, it happened after loadshedding so probably a power surge

It supports all apps in South Africa (and elsewhere).

If you already have Apple gear, then an Apple TV might make sense. Not for me tho, tho again, it might make a good Matter Hub, if I get involved in such.
 
Hi everyone, I was the OP and just wanted to share my eventual feedback for those that are interested to hear.

- So I did end up buying the Xiaomi Mi-Box end of 2022 @ R1099 from the very knowledgeable SOUNDS GREAT STORE CENTURION.
- At my trusted 1st choice Hi-Fi Corp I had to wait 30mins for the useless staff motoring up and down, passing the buck onto each other, pathetically going on toilet breaks with the only cabinet keys in pocket and taking tea and/or lunch breaks, to unlock the view cabinet but had no stock but price was also around ~R1100-R1200.
- Incredible Connection was just plain rude and overpriced as usual.
- Makro was also R1099 but a bit out my way. I would have also supported them.

- The matt neon orange & white product packaging box is about the size of a brick.
- The actual product TV Box is matt black & about the size of a cigarette holder case or small wallet.
- The product's packaging box does not necessarily state "Xiaomi", but it does have the Mi logo everywhere.
- The product design is sleek, strong, lightweight, space-saving & has good workmanship.

- I was pleasantly surprised, especially with the true plug-and-play ease of use & I'm extremely happy with the workings of my product thus far.
- It can quickly wirelessly connect to home WiFi, although once or twice had to manually reconnect after loadshedding.
- One can watch YouTube, Showmax, Netflix, DStv, AfriForum TV and more, all one 1 little device.
- One can download more viewing apps on Google Play Store that did not come as default with the device.
- One cannot seem to download Google Chrome Web Browser or Google Drive, BUT with Chromecast built-in, any laptop, phone or tablet content can be very easily cast to the TV screen with very reasonable quality by using the Google Home app on the device that should cast.
- Device comes with an HDMI cable for it to work with one's TV.
- Comes with 2 pin "charger plug" so it does need electricity to function and cannot draw power from USB as far as I know.
