i quite like Kodi - and i use it with the Aeon MQ9 skin with a custom image theme (the skin has some different images from the standard ones in the actual app but i replace some of those images with other images different from the default one of the skin) so it looks pretty good to my eyes
i had some issues that i described in the Netogy Nova thread but those landed up being due to dodgy downloaded files - if the file is fine then all the playback will be without issue - about the program being bloated well IMHO they have kept on adding functionality that i quite like and with the optional skins the program is pretty intuitive and user friendly (not to mention that the KODI forums contains thousands of guides for every aspect of the functionality so you cant really go wrong with anything that you can't figure out with just a glance) - one issue that i cant solve on my PC is probably because i'm still on Windows 7 on that HTPC and i'm using the latest 64 bit versions of the program so the core of the operating system is going to be missing some of the dependencies - use some newer O/S and i'm sure there will be fewer issues
and sure .... there will be easier programs to use but those will sacrifice certain aspects of functionality that i'm currently used to within Kodi so i'm going to remain "old fashioned" and im going to say that theres not much for me to complain about in regards to Kodi
also what do you need the onboard space of your device for - i mainly only need to add Kodi to a device with 16 gigs of storage - my content goes on to external drives but if i needed anything extra on internal storage my device allows me to use external microSD cards or external hard drives connected via USB to expand on internal storage capacity
