Do you want to know if it is worth buying good beans for the automatic?

I think if it can make a proper espresso, then yes. If you don't have much control over the Brew time and grind, probably not worth it.

Nah have full manual grind settings and have spent enough time with it to know what works well.

Brew time I have to measure and then choose options accordingly but I try not to nerd too hard on that.

Usually settle on the Terbodore coffees and sometimes even the Checkers Single Origins or signature blends when in dire need.

It’s a Saeco Picobarista Deluxe.

Ag I do enjoy the notion of the whole ritual of going manual but I also don’t really do milk coffee that much.

Won’t ever claim it lives up to a properly made cappuccino with a steamer wand and manually texturing the milk, but for the lack of mess and speed it comes pretty damn close.

Due to my milk sensitivity I have at most one cappuccino once early in the morning and then after that it’s all black either espresso or what the machine reckons is “coffee”. The Americano option is just too much water for me.

Once in a while as a treat I’ll have an Espresso con Panna in the evening.

I’ve actually wondered what would happen if I put cream straight in the milk frother but it’s probably a terrible idea.

Maybe should try evaporated milk first.

Don't think it is gonna work that well. But hey, worse if you gonna have to replace it with a proper machine. :p
 
Woolies espresso beans is my favourite this far. Also sometimes on special if you buy 2 packs

The lighter beans tend to have these wierd "fruity" after tastes which I don't like. I have tried a few different brands and flavours but this is my default.

At the office I drink it black and at home I'll make cappuccino.

Maybe that's why no one ever asks me for a cup.
 
Just an update from my side…I have given Local Grind a go and I am really impressed. The last lot I got, which was there variety box, was really nice as you don’t know what you gonna get until you get it…the only thing was only one of the coffees had a roast date on them. I contacted them and they told me that it is unfortunately out of there control as it’s up to the roaster, though they did say they keep a very limited selection, and if it does get too old, then they either donate it, or use it at the office.

I just got their monthly deal, the 18 coffee selection, and all of those have roast dates and are very fresh. I as well love that they put in a hand written card in your order thanking you for the support, a really great little customer oriented touch.

Assuming you really like the coffee of the one close to you…if not, then you gotta get from elsewhere. For me, I don’t actually want it next day, it’s too fresh for me to use anyways, so if it’s a week or so old, then I don’t mind at all.
