Best exercise to lose weight?

was a bit naughty yesterday... went to the shop to buy bread and milk... ended up buying a few liquorice sticks (strings?) and chowed about 6 of them last night.. and a ice cream sandwich.

Whole wheat bread is great + try have hummus and carrot sticks as snacks instead(dip little carrots in hummus).

muhahahha, that was quite good :)

so u dont eat junk food......but you snack all the time and eat ice cream?
what would you then consider junk food?

Hmm, sorry, should have worded that better. I meant junk food isn't a regular part of my general diet, but I undermine that by lapsing into snacking on cookies, ice cream etc. Doesn't happen that often, but too much I reckon.

Running is the quickest way to lose weight..

Also use wheat free pasta and pan fry your ostrich steaks, fish fillets and chicken breasts in grape seed oil...

Hard short sprints maybe, but jogging not really. Both sprinting and jogging put huge strain on your joints though.

Is wheat-free pasta usually low in carbohydrates?

Treadmill is okay, road running is where the real wear and tear exists.

carbs 41g per 100 (wheat free) vs 74g per 100...

Exercise will help you loose weight if you diet. Exercise will make you fat if you do not eat correctly. Exercise makes you hungry.

I'm not saying sit on the couch and do nothing Exercise is good and aids in weight loss. If you are on a calorie restricted diet. It will help you to keep to the number of calories although you might have eaten 200 cal more. You burn it with exercise.
If you start exercising and don't change your diet it is automatically now calorie restricted. Exercise also often doesn't burn anything near what people think it does. Any alleged measurement based on body measurements is probably wrong.

Correct.

Losing weight isn't rocket science. Calories in vs. calories out.
Burn more calories than you consume and you lose weight - simple.
On a simple level this is true. What you have to watch out for is starting a reduced calorie diet and exercising at the same time. That can easily lower your metabolism which then makes your diet not calorie restricted. Some people then respond by intensifying the diet and exercise, making the problem worse. In the end they give up, eat a lot before their metabolism recovers and as a result put on even more weight.

Another factor to consider is that low intensity exercise, what most people end up doing, burns mostly fat, but also typically increases your appetite. High intensity exercise burns mostly carbohydrates during exercise, and uses fat afterward to replenish muscle stores, plus it suppresses your appetite. You're probably only doing high intensity if you're completely wiped out after exercise. If you managed to watch TV, play with your mobile or hold a conversation while exercising it was probably pretty mild exercise.

Weight training is the best for losing weight I rate.
That's been my experience too. But whatever someone does they have to work hard, and push themselves. Otherwise it's just leisure and probably mostly a waste of time.

Yeah, you must actually make the heart pump hard + always feel better when I feel completley dead after exercise.

People who do cardio don't realise (weight training) is that the more muscle you gain the more energy you will burn .

To lose weight:

Eat what your body needs, otherwise the excess will be turned into fat.

Weight training. Mix with low weight high reps and end with heavy weight with low rep.

But most importantly control the urge to eat.

What I've found to work the best is anything that makes you sweat a lot and for as long as possible. Sweat seems to flush toxins and fat (and salt). Drink about 500ml of water a half hour before you exercise - it gives you more energy to actually keep exercising longer. This is all stuff I've discovered by trial, error and accident! :D
Also, like the other guys have said, eat less, and eat natural things like fruit, vegetables, salads. Don't drink diet cooldrinks and diet foods, just cutting down slightly on normal food has a better effect and you won't get a heart attack from the aspartame chemical in the diet stuff.

And remember, you CAN DO IT! All the best.:)

Don't get why people must control the urge to eat? Eat bread etc just in limited portions...unless you mean snacking coz I get guilty :o

As I recall this whole sweating out toxins thing is a myth. Sweating fat? And that salt you sweat out you'll want to put back.

No you won't, even if you consume aspartame.

Most people do lighter longer duration exercise which does typically induce hunger. Their appetite goes up to compensate for the exercise. This is another scenario where someone will eventually give up, but their diet will now exceed their metabolism causing them to gain even more fat. Anyone who does feel hungry after exercise should consider changing their exercise so that it suppresses hunger.

Also I think people get bored of the exercises they do. I just take the Mens health work out posters and choose some from different posters. Also helps 'surprise' your muscles.

Ahhh I always get extremly hungry after exercising, probably not eating enough calories to compensate for the exercise.

Great tips here guys.

I'm also a tad overweight :) I'm 1.83cm and 105kg Looking to get down to 100kg in the next three weeks.
I find that eating high fiber or just adding fiber to everything, even snacks keeps my metabolism going and my stomach fuller.

You'll do fine with some exercise and cutting out crap like sweets, sugars, bread, biscuits, etc.

I started on 105kg in August (I'm 1.79m), I'm now on 91kg. Gym 4 times a week, of which I do treadmill, core/balance exercise, low weight lifting for 45mins-1hr. I am not dieting or eating weird stuff, just cutting out the unnecessary crap and not binging.

Just try not to see 100kg as a final destination, but rather as a milestone. If you push too hard, you're going to lose weight, but not body fat ... and when you get to 100, you'll relax because of your accomplishment, and eventually pile it all back on. Ask me, I know. It took me 3 weeks to lose 1kg at the start, only to put it back on again + extra.

Thanks for the advice! I'm however currently on 20% body fat, only want this @ 10% in the loooong run. Don't know whether I'd be able to get to 90kgs without also losing muscle? :)

My downfall also isn't bread and sweets etc.
I eat A LOT of meat, and drink a whole bottle of red wine two - three times a week. That's where my struggle is! I'm actually finding it hard to cut out a lot from my diet, other than eating more fish and less red meat (also smaller portions) and stopping the wine.. The problem I foresee is that I won't stop drinking wine completely, and only drinking half a bottle is more difficult than drinking none at all!
