Best Internet Service Provider

Hi Guys,

I would like to setup internet at my home. Don't have a telkom line yet and all. Just wanted to find out what the requirement are and which companies arer best in price and speed to setup with and what are they (prices and speeds). Pliz help?

but just for interest's sake, what will you mainly be using the internet for and how much do you expect to be using montly. Or if you have a budget limit, what is it?

ADSL is probably your best bet if it is provided in your area. Getting your ADSL line from Telkom directly gives you the flexibility to change ISPs pretty quickly.

I want to use about R200-R300 a month for downloads and gaming. Is that sufficient, I am in PMB and think will be able to get ADSL. Is it fruitful doing this with Telkom's doBroadband?

Afrihost is the only way to go if you are getting a 4 meg line but if you are getting a 384 the the extra 300 added you should look at uncapped 384k for SAOL.com although today is the last day its available.

the telkom line rental is the big cost +- R150 a month. From there you need a service provider. I am using Afrihost and that is costing me R29 a gig. so for R200 bucks a month you pay telkom 150 and then can download 2gigs worth of stuff, for R300- just over 5gigs.

that said this is the second time afrihost is offering this, but at the moment there is a buy one, get one free offer till the end of this month, so for R30 you get 2 gigs instead of 1 etc which is a great offer

I would recommend you get your line rental from telkom and sign up with afrihost as your isp

Thanks a lot, will make a plan to get that line installation. I heard it is better if you sign up with the Closer Plan at Telkom.

it all depends if you want to make use of free local usage where you would maybe use the local news server and local gaming... im on do broadband 2 --3gb and 20 gb local for R258 thats with the adsl line fee and its been gr8 and perfect for what i do.. but like the other guys said it all depends what you wanna do with the internet etc..

i'm also in pmb but for installing line in pmb even with closer they want a R700 deposit
