Ok guys I finally caved in and purchased this iPad 2 to see what all the fuss is about :)

One thing I was wondering is will Cell C's 900mhz work with the iPad 2? (I don't mind cutting the Sim)

Which is the best data package to go for? I don't use a lot of data so main concern is quality not price. I'll largely be in metro areas as well.

Thanks!

With the relatively limited testing that I've done, it seems that Vodacom is the way to go for quality/speed.

They have their 2GB+2GBNightOwl deal at the moment, so I'd go for that @ R149/month for 12 months.

Cell C 2gb for 12 months for R999. It works on the iPad 2. You just have to cut the SIM.

If you opt for the vodacom deal just watch out for the OOB rates as you don't get cut off after you reach your 2gb. I would go for the cellc deal, but some people have reception and connection issues with them.

agree with u
i got a vod. 2gb cos no cellc whoosh coverage in my area
have to be careful with the oob rates

Take the cell c 5gb deal - bigger is better - go wild

Thanks okes, tough choice, I want to go Cell C, but don't want to end up browsing edge, while sipping more my morning brew at the coffee shop.

Decisions! :D

Cape Town? You should be fine with Cell C. But why not just get a prepaid SIM for now before committing. Anyway if you have wifi at home you'll use that mostly.

Thanks for the info everyone. Is it worth getting an iPad2 without 3g though if you've got as iPhone - and can use your iPhones wireless connection?
I suppose getting one of the deals - like the CellC 2GB or 5GB is cheaper though than buying once off data bundles for your phone?

I currently pay R280 for 1.2GB data on Vodacom for my iPhone - so I suppose that could get very expensive in the long run - running it wirelessly with the iPad. Why is data so epensive here? :(

Talking about cellc and iPad 2. Any members using this setup? Experiencing any problems except for out of coverage issues?

Well yes it is a pain. I don't remember if you can do it via the web, you might be able to. Anyway, no you don't have to commit. And yes I have experience with Cell C 3G on an iPad 2 and iPhone 4, works great. Best reception ever, actually.

OK thanks. Gonna try it out tomorrow!

iPad 2 and iPhone 4 use a micro sim which is a regular sim with some of the plastic cut away. You can make your own micro sim by cutting up a regular sim.
